Weather...

I did some research and the only way we can get weather in PC is when Frontier completely rewrites their Cobra game engine which can affect the game on critical levels. Is that what we want then?
That's not quite true -- there are some ways of doing weather that would cause that, and they're being used as an excuse not to do it. There are other ways that would be significantly less resource-intensive that could be implemented.

And lets look at what most people are really asking for about weather -- realistic rain and snow? Not as important as guest behaivior! Will they avoid certain rides and prefer certain rides when it's raining? Will we be able to toggle which rides are under shelter (benefits being not taxing the game with this decision and giving us more control)? Will guests buy more coffee'n'donuts, more hot coco, more hot tea, when it's cold? Will guests wear warmer clothing when it's cold? Will we be able to set the "it's cold" range (so that arctic parks can be cold all the time)? Will guests buy and use flexi-color umbrellas? Will I be able to sell different colors in different themed areas of the park so I can see at a glance where people are buying 'em? [up]

If Frontier's proprietary game engine, which they have complete control over, has to be retooled to allow for this then so be it. If this causes performance issues on otherwise game-worthy computers then that's the coder's incompetence, not something innate in the nature of the universe. [sulk]

Lol nice research but you missed that Jurassic World has rain... isnt that using cobra?

The problem isn't the engine, its that building in PlanCo is very resource intensive, and rain would only worsen the problem

I just like the gameplay elements that can come with weather. Light sprinkle = a small % of guests will ignore the rides and seek out stalls/vista points/benches/tables. Heavy downpour wouldn't happen often but when it does it creates a high % of guests that wont ride anything. If it's a thunderstorm, coasters will shut down momentarily. These kind of random events would create better gameplay.

Plus you'd get new stalls for umbrellas and maybe rain ponchos. One of my fav memories was visiting Disney World when I was a kid back in the 90's and it was rainy so we bought plastic ponchos. We and others on Splash Mountain were all wearing them and I just have that vivid memory of everyone in rain yellow ponchos going through and down splash mountain! [tongue]

Yes, totally agree. It's not about the guests dressing up as eskamo's to go to a themepark in subzero temperatures. It's about unexpected weather and the effect it has on the guests and the park. It would be awesome!!

in the special effects category u have rain, snow, clouds, lightning and more. They are not doing weather changes. It would slow the game down and wouldnt be beneficial.

I thought that Jurassic world is using a fully redesigned version of the engine? I believe i read it somewhere.
