Weekly assignments idea

Should they lead to the same systems for every Power in the given cycle? This way we would have additional hotspots for player activity.

Or maybe not for all 12 Powers, but mix it up a bit. But essentially the idea is to direct players from multiple Powers to the same system as part of weekly assignments. Could be backed up by some lore Galnet blurb. (But then it loses a bit of player agenda... do we want that?).

Just a loose idea I've had just now.

Remember when we had the weekly copy-and-paste CGs?

The ones that just picked a random system, made up some fluff, then kicked off either an opposed war or a paired commodities/bounty goal?
And that system was the place everyone went to meet up and pick a fight, pirate each other, and so on?

The game is better when there are reasons to concentrate players, and despite the occasional complaint from people who deliberately went to the Designated Location For Player Interaction and subsequently got interacted with, they're a great way to blow off steam and they provide a magnet that leaves the rest of the galaxy relatively free of bored pugilists.

And doing it with powerplay, the designated Team Deathmatch Mode of the game, would be even better.

I absolutely support the notion of the roaming designated thunderdome. The galaxy needs a waffle house.

My weekly assignments are based on the system I happened to park in before the Thursday tick.

It would be nice if I could define my preferred home system in the GalMap, kinda like a special bookmark. And have the weeklies based on that. Then my weeklies aren't all on the other side of the bubble.

Or we could get the weekly assignments from a Power Contact. Whichever one we choose to go to.
In our Navigation->Transactions->Powerplay menu the weeklies could say "Go See A Power Contact For New Assignments" until we visit a Power Contact and get the assignments. And the assignments would be around that system. Then cmdrs not currently interested in powerplay don't need to see incomplete assignments in their Transactions menu.
