Weird but annoying piracy bug

2 of us in a wing in PG (were testing navlock response etc) I interdict a type 7.
Drop into instance with the type 7. Brief beams fire its shields goto 0. I knock out the drives with seekers..
Here's where it gets weird. My wingmate arrives at that point. I'm close to the type 7 about to bumpstop it. When all of a sudden it starts up and just drives away! With its drives at 0?
We both attempt to bumpstop it, can't no matter what we do. So wingmate leaves. The type 7 all of a sudden stops drives and floats away and I bumpstop as per normal... what happened?
And yes we repeated it again with a krait ll same damn thing happened.

Very bizarre... could your friend see the modules being at 0% on his side?
 
Kk the reason why we're doing this is cos it's just training for the real deal. But atm I ain't confident my wingmates can do pvp hehe.
Come PP 2.0 hopefully yah there'll be 100s of merit runners and module shoppers to "intervene"
The propper ship then is a cutter I'm presuming.
Also stocking up those stolen ltds for bgs flipping.
 
Here's the scenario I imagined:
NPC does reboot/restore
Once everything boots back up, drives are barely back
NPC tries to run away
NPC realizes PP and/or PD are too damaged for life support and thrusters
NPC chooses Life support
