There are a few hot planets in the NGC 7822 system that I tried to walk on, but it would not let me disembark, it said unsafe temperatures. I even tried getting out on the dark side of the planet and it is still too hot. Is it possible that maybe the planet has an elliptical orbit, and perhaps when the person that got first footfall happened to walk on it when the star's orbit was further away?
Weird issue on a planet that someone has already achieved first footfall.

Yes, that's possible. Have a look at the Orrery View in the system map to see what the orbit looks like.
I was able to get First footfall on a planet where even "most" of the dark side was out of the acceptable temperature range. IIRC, once I got closer to the sunrise terminator of the planet, there was enough of a temperature variation that I was able to successfully disembark. That might also be at play here.
i have never checked but do all the suits have the same tolerances?
