Weird problem. Vulture with 3 class 3 G beam laser. Only 1 fires. Not power issue.

So I just bought 2 gimbal class 3 beam lasers for my Vulture. Took her out to test power management but only 1 fires. It's definitely not a power issue as I manually disabled thrusters etc to get the power usage way under 100%, yet still only 1 of them fires. Has anyone else seen this or have any ideas? Cheers!

EDIT: Opps, sorry about the typo in the thread title. Should have been 2 class 3 G beam laser.

DOH!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alright, I haven't checked again, I usually always assign new weapons but maybe I forgot this time. What an idiot, should have checked that first. Checking now.... I'll be back! *bangs head against wall*

UPDATE: Yep, that was it. I can officially hang my head in shame now. Thanks for the help ;)

Check you don't have them in fire groups 1 and 2. It's so easy to do on the Vulture if you've come from a "balanced" ship like a Cobra, where you always put both cannons in 2 and both LASERs in 1. :)

Yesterday I thought I had the same problem, and I had selected the fire group with my D Scanner on 2 and one Burst LASER on 1. Wondered why fire button two was making a weird "wob wob wob" sound with no LASER fire... Eejit! :D

Been there got the t-shirt. Have some rep for making me chuckle on what is in any other way a bleak day.

Trouble is with 2 beam lasers is that after about 6 seconds you are out of power even with 4 pips to weps. I have 1 beam which I can just keep firing until they fry with 4 pips. Ended up with a cannon as the secondary and just use that on the meatier targets to speed things up a bit.

2 beam lasers do twice the damage as 1 beam laser. Why would you want to spend nearly twice the amount of time shooting it then you need to? Makes no sense to me. Plus, sometimes, for example when charging towards each other, you only have a few seconds to fire before you both fly past ech other. Wouldn't you want to do as much damage as possible, then recharge while you circle around for the next shot? And if the reason is just so you can have a kenetic weapon along with it, that's fine, unless you are farming a RES. What good is a canon when you run out of ammo? How long is that going to last fighting non-stop anacondas and pythons? My guess is not very long.

He isn't spending twice as long. Both weapon types can be fired at once (while not draining WEP). The shield will go down less slowly with one laser but the hull will go down quicker.

With careful use of the laser (any type) you can get away with 2 pips to wep and leave you with more for sys or eng.

Running out of ammo can be an issue but whether that is an issue depends on how long (or often) you intend to be fighting.

It isn't everyone's choice of setup but it is valid.

so i have been in a vulture for about a week and a half now i got it setup for my game play style and here it is

i like the 1 beam and 1 pulse laser, it takes down any large ship i have come across and well its alot of fun.
i farm res sites.

the best i have done is 2 mill in about 15min. i got really lucky one day and it was all ana, py and cliper over and over for about 10 to 15 ships 1 after another. so much so i had to leave after 2 mill to go repair. you just got to know what your doing.
