Weird sounds near Heart & Soul?

When flying through the Heart sector, hyperspace sounds, and looks... off. I can't put my finger on it, but i think it might be worth checking the sound-o-graph or whatever it is, of that audio. Problem is, I don't know how to do that. Can anyone give me a breakdown of how to do it?

What I mean to do is to analyze this audio in the same way that Canonn analyzed the Thargoid Probe.

By the way, what's the best way to record game audio? Google results tell me to install Audacity, but isn't there some way to record audio on your PC without needing a downloaded program?

Spectrogram is definitely what you're describing and looking for regarding the visual image of sound.

I'm not sure you can straight up record your stereo output with Windows alone...I could be wrong. Maybe by messing around with Playback/Recording devices and the voice recorder app...but that's more time spent fiddling around than just downloading Audacity and changing the input.

Audacity is a great low resource tool that comes in handy...I use it to record my computer audio now and again. Just google for how to set it up for that (you need to change your mic/input in the program I believe). It's really easy though.

Besides, I believe Audacity has a Spectrogram plug-in built in anyway.
You can probably easily find better free Spectrogram software that gives you more options on how to handle frequencies and colors, however.

Figured out how to use Audacity's spectrogram, thank you. My audio was off (music and ambient sound was very low, the deep sound of thrusters very loud), but i think I might've seen letters in the spectrogram. Gotta keep checking.
