Weird things in the low resource extraction site

I've done a lot of pirate farming in low RESs for massacre missions. Generally, al, ships are ranked competent or lower, so very easy to kill. In about one in five sessions, after something like 30 mins of farming, a wing or group of much higher rank ships turn up - typically a dangerous Python, a deadly FDL and a dangerous Anaconda not in a wing or two dangerous Anacondas and a deadly FDL in a wing. These are not the high rank ships that follow you in to the RES after announcing themselves in Supercruise, though they could be linked to the missions. Once killed, you don't see those high rank ships again in that instance.

I was wondering whether the devs sneaked those in to confound AFK farming. Does anybody know if those high rank ships have always had a chance of spawning in a low RES, or is it something relatively new. I remember about 6 to 9 months ago a guy mentioned it, but it wasn't clear whether he had a mission-spawned one follow him in. I'm now thinking that it wasn't that.

Yesterday, something I have never seen before happened. The group of high rank ships came in, but after I killed each one, a replacement dropped in, so there were always three high rank ships in the instance, either Python, FDL or Anaconda. It was like a conveyor belt. The low rank ships were still spawning at the same rate as before the high rank ones appeared.

While I'm at it, I might as well mention this:
Farming pirates can become very hectic, especially when you're racing to get the kills before the police, so it's not unusual to tag an innocent ship and get a small bounty on you wherupon every green ship turns red and starts shooting you, so there's no chance to stay. I use that as an excuse to return to the station and fill top up my missions while I drink a coffee and check my emails. One time I forgot to clear the bounty, so I went back to the low RES and carried on. I didn't notice until I'd been there for about an hour. There were loads of police there, but they didn't care. I was able to stay for the entire session while showing "wated" in red by my fuel gauge,

I assumed that some software flag had glitched and failed to set, but the same happened again yesterday. In all sessions, I'm frequently scanned by the police.

i hope this is something FDev did on purpose.

AFK farming annoys me more than it should. feels against the spirit of the game even if not explicitly prohibited.

AFK doesn't quite seem to work for me, these days, so maybe it has been nerfed a tad. I enjoy keeping my guns on a target while selecting power plant, anyway, and earning carrier maintenance at the same time, so...

Even weirder: I blew up a clean ship today when I mis-targeted one. I got "wanted", a 5000cr bounty and notoriety. I was in the middle of killing a wing of three, so I decided to get them all while tanking the police before scooting, but then another wing of three were right in front of me, so I thought I'd see how many I'd get before the police chased me away. I finally left the RES 2 hrs later after I'd completed all my missions and the notoriety had expired. The police didn't care at all. None turned red and none shot at me. I even got a message saying that all scans had been completed and I was clear to go on my way.
