Parks Welcome to "Casus a Vita"

Greetings communtiy of Planet Coaster!

Right from the very first moment PC was announced I was convinced I would buy this game. When it did release though I was kinda hesitant to buy it. Not because I wouldnt like the game in general, but because I find it very hard to start projects. Im always full of ideas, but act on it is a completely different story.

Last week I decided to finally buy the game anyway. Ohw boy, should I have done that sooner. After some trial and errors, restarting some parks and going bankrupt several times I decided to start up a park in sandbox mode and when it has some rides continue with it in challenge mode. Although it wouldnt surprise me if I'd just build the whole park in sandbox mode.

Anyway, I'd love to show the things I (try to) build here (And hope to get some positive feedback in the process [rolleyes]).

To start this thread we should of course start with what every parks starts with, the entrance building. This being my first building ever made in PC I think it came out ok. I might have to do some more detailing later, but at the moment I'll leave it as is. At the moment only the front is finished, Im still kinda puzzling with the backside, also because I want to include the first shops and rides there. That means its going to be a lot of building and destroying at first to find out what fits and works and what doesnt.

Anyway, the entrance building:

The first look they get when walking out of the entrance tunnel (Alpine map):

And completely in view:

The idea of the park is that the rides and area's carry a story with them. I would love to tell you that story and see where it goes. The next part of the story will be about witches or a marketplace within the castle, depending on which part I finish first.

Well, talk to you guys soon... ...ish...

Welcome aboard! You're off to a great start! It should all roll along more easily now. I, too, find it hard to get started, but once you put something down, the rest feeds on it. Or you've overcome the inertia and it's easier to keep it moving than get it going. Or something like that ;)

Welcome to the forums!
Really a great build and a beautiful building! I like the way how you made the entrance - very clean and realistic!

Enjoy the game, and I'm waiting to see your progress ;-)

Started to work on the entrance for the first ride.

At the bottom the queue is going through a prison/dungeon, but there arent any straight forward parts for that. So kinda have to figure out how to build one...

First part of the dungeon/prison is finished.

Since there werent any viable prisoners to put in the prison I decided that they're keeping some creatures in there they captured, including a dragon! Dont ask me how they got it in there, ok? :p. And where is the safest place to store your gold, treasure and goods? Exactly, right next to the dragon.

After a lot of trial and error and deciding what ride should go here, the project for the first ride is reaching its completion:

What atrocities are being committed back there, dimly seen behind the bars? Great job raising that important question :)

The entrance side is taking shape too:

(oops, forgot to hide the UI :O)

Planning on doing a vid where I walk through the queue once everything is finished.

Well, back to work...

Well, one week further and I came to this result:

I tried to create the illusion when you enter this queue line you're actually walking into a huge prison building. I think I managed :).

Dont mind the floating wall on the left side, thats still something not finished ;).

Somehow I get the feeling though that all this might be a bit too extensive for just a thrill ride. Im trying to figure out how to implement a queue for a coaster in this building which would give it an additional function.

What are your thoughts on this?

It definitely feels like a prison. I don't think anything is too extensive if it works, and it does in my opinion. But maybe i am not the right the person to comment on that, as i like things extensive. I build a food court once, which was estimated around 50 million acccording to someone who made a video about it :p. I really like the wooden facades in front of the huge castle walls, it works really good. Keep it up.

I decided to run another queue through the building. So, to be able to finish the castle I have to fit in a station first. When this is done I should be able to finish the castle.

Really really good.

The entrance, the prison and the 'dungeon escape' vertical ride, is especially creative.

A great job you're doing!

Making some progress on the coaster station:

...and then I ran into an inspiration block, hopefully able to finish this tomorrow...

Well, a week overdue, but last week I felt like everything was a little bit too unfinished. But hey, now I have more to show too! :)

The entrance castle hosts 2 queues and one coaster station. The separate parts of the building came together so I had to finish different parts to be able to move on. After mostly finishing the station building I was left with a empty area outside:

It had to become part of the coaster queue, but how? The coaster station is a ballroom where the king would welcome all his guests but what should go next to it? Then I thought it might be a good idea to have a patio, which turned out pretty good:

There are still some parts I'd like to improve, but for now this'll do.

The patio looks out over a litte arena, but its not ready for public yet ;).

When I started the coaster station here, the initial idea was to lengthen the house that was sitting on top of the main gate backwards, but it just gave to much problems and didnt really fit. So I had to build a complete new roof:

So, basicly the coaster station sits within the main building.

Now Im left with a big flat open roof, what to do with that? A chapel on top might be a good idea:

Just one problem, why would that chapel be all the way up there? Which actually leads to the first lore part of this park:

Church law states that the church should be the tallest building in every town and tower over everything else. The king didnt really agree with this rule. To avoid trouble he came up with a cunning plan. He build the chapel on top of his castle so it would still have the highest point in town.

To accommodate this, I had to rebuild a part of the entrance because of reasons stated above.

This is how the entrance looks at this point:

Well, thats it for now. Back to work, next part I'll be working on is the exit path from the coaster.

Till next time! :)
