Actually, imagine we get the wolverine and the ABB in the same pack
Even heavily sedated the Wolverine bests the bear. I assume sedation since this is really calm behavior.
I dunno how true this is, but I read many years ago somewhere that if the wolverine were the size of a wolf or a bear, it'd be the strongest animal alive
Same here, I really like smaller carnivores quite a lot. We've got so many larger carnivores already, there's not a need for too many more.
Wolverines are pretty wild, you cant be this successfull at bullying animals much larger then them while only pulling a bluff
There has even been a documented a case in the wild where a wolverine killed a male adult polarbear, so i doubt that they need to be the size of a bear to reasonably earn that title.
Wolverines also arnt just muscles, what really gives them the edge is a mix of thick and dense fur and not only thick but also loose skin that allows them to shrug of many hits while wiggling out of its problems to face them with claws and teeth. And if that doesnt work they still got stink glands to literally just smell very bad to distract their opponent or even make them loose their grip.
Still they arnt allmighty, as they suffer especally against groups, making the grey wolf its main predator while they can hold their own surprisingly well against larger lone predators like bears and cougars.

Our 2023 friend...okay they're no one's friend...our...mascot.... has made it in the game. I. Am. Relieved. I have so many plans for them already, at least 3 different zoos with habitats already set up. And honestly there is not another animal out there that I think I could be so relieved at getting, at least not any that have a chance of being included (cue the sad sounds of eagles, toucans and macaws). Sure I have my wants but nothing was like my want for the Wolverine. I am very very happy today.
