Well, I did it.

£100 and I appear to have the Alpha 1.1 and all my hardware not recognized (Warthog stick and throttle, TiR and Crosswind pedals).

I assume this will all be rectified with the premium beta on friday.

Don't worry if you do not get to play the Alpha much before Friday, I have had it a month and played it very little so far so at least you'll be better than me!

Yep!

There were issues with multiple controllers in the first alpha.

The new one has a special warthog pre-config thingy.

You can spoof it by losing the pedals and using TARGET if you want to play before Thursday.

As others have said we can expect full support with the PB. Until then you should be able to use the Warthog and TrackIR in the 1.1 Alpha as long as the pedals (or any other USB controller) is not connected to the PC. If you set up the Warthog in game you need to be aware that you will not be able to make separate assignments to some of the switches on the throttle and stick. For example any assignments I make to the POV on the stick will be duplicated on the Throttle POV. If you want to make separate assignments you will need to create a profile using the target software. Unfortunately TARGET will not recognize your pedals. The need to use TARGET should disappear with the release of the PB (unless you're using TARGET to launch macros). There was a good thread on creating Warthog profiles. Unfortunately it was merged into the general Joystick/HOTAS thread so the information is a bit harder to find. (speaking of which this thread may end up being merged as well)

This link should get you to the post from Kungfu in which he posted his TARGET profile and instructions on how to use it

http://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?p=410494#post410494

Between viewing Kungfu's profile and cracking open the TARGET manual I learned enough to create my own profile. That work might be less useful once the PB is released but it was still interesting toi see how the TARGET software work, even if I just scratched the surface.

I've used the Alpha 1.1 missions to get familiar with a joystick again and with how to fly the ship...

I've also downloaded OOlite and am playing it again :)

Thanks guys. I'm not in that much of a rush though, not if it means jumping through myriad hardware hoops and getting wound up. :)

im glad the TM Hog is a profile =) I got my Hog years ago and its seen little combat apart from the odd DCS session hehe. Its seen more civilian action in FSX than anything else but now I can use the Fire button for somthing else hehe :)

Wait a minute.. he said all his controllers werent working.. including Tir.. abbreviation for TrackIR.. which I am an expert in.. (doesnt take much to be an expert in TrackIR) but I know for a fact it should be working even in Alpha 1.1..

Join me on Teamspeak for a quick review of all your controllers and especially TrackIR, and we can get some of your issues ready ahead of time for the beta..

Thanks mate but don't worry about it. For the sake of two or three days I can wait for the full enchilada (premium beta at least) where it should all work straight out of the box. :)
