I think this is one of those threads where clarification from Frontier would be great.

Its definitely not Elite combat rank as we saw in the other games, its access to some discounts and the occasional special missions as I understood it. Its not going to offer a game breaking advantage and I haven't met anyone who would want that anyway. In that respect our game experience will be that of merit, not privilege.

Having said that I think its worth getting more specifics from Frontier on this one..

Welcome to you in the Elite family. One of the particularities of forums Elite is the friendliness of the majority of backers. This does not prevent critical thinking and the conflicts sometimes between backers. But mind Elite is something unique, I think.
