Looking forward to the new core experience too.
I was constantly amazed at how static, unchanging and totally non-interactive the Oculus Home experience always was. I was wowed when I first got in - then when I realised I was rooted to the spot, couldn't move, couldn't look outside, couldn't throw a cushion, it just became a jump-in, jump-out menu that took too long to load. And that was well before Touch arrived on the scene
I thought it was going to be at least a small showcase of what could be done with the hardware.
Amazed Carmack didn't push for thet, total waste of time as it didn't receive any follow-through.
To me it felt like Oculus sat on their hands - if you logged into Home and had some toys to play with, simple games etc they might have sold boatloads more units. Instead it just was a pretty 360 picture with leaves falling down and fish in the water.
But, out with the old, in with the new!
Thought it was planned for the 10th?
It's coming on the 6th!!! 4 days away

Just picked up a pair of the touch contollers and based on my setup in my office this thing is nonsense really just want to use it as an easy interface for the new 2.0 but it forces you into setting up 2 sensors spread out wide which is not good for my particular situation. why cant this just be used as a controller with one sensor? Bad design maybe
Looking forward to the new core experience too.

Remember xbox 360 avatar toys? you could buy them or sometimes games came with them, or perhaps doing stuff in a game would unlock something. This was good on the xbox 360, but would be great in VR... I remmeber halo had a remote controlled ghost (they flyable vehicle in the game), imagine that in vr, a radio controlled vehicle to tool around with?)
surely oculus could put a lot of the dev work onto the devs too..... tat like that could sell games.
Can't wait, i pity the non VR users (And HTC Vive users) as they can't be as excited as us Rift users? This is as exciting as an ED major update dropping. I am hopeful that his could change Rift VR experiences 10 fold! If it works as well as everyone thinks, i wonder how long HTC will wait before bringing out their version ?
ROLL ON WEDNESDAY!!
Not so sure that's to get excited about What have I missed? How much time do you spend in the Oculus menu system in VR?
I hope it improves the controller/sensor setup in general. As we've discussed in another post, if your sensors get moved so your "direct ahead" setting no longer matches your borders etc, the only option is reset them from scratch! Be much nicer if you could simply re-do your sensors and manually adjust your "direct ahead" setting and move your existing borders around manually.
In terms of Dash, its more about the functionality of being able to multitask while you are 'in-game' (as in while playing Elite). If FDev fully implement Dash support into Elite you will be able to press the Oculus Home button and then launch other apps such as web browsers and video players, pin them in your cockpit and interact with them while playing - all without being taken out of Elite.
What we really need now is a comment from FDEV to see if they intend on implementing Dash in Elite Dangerous. If they don't we'll still be able to pin apps within our cockpits but it won't be that nice seemless version we saw demonstrated at Oculus Connect. You'll be thrown out of Elite into the 'Void' environment where you'll be able to lauch an pin apps.
