Well that stings a bit

So i've gotten back into Elite again after doing quite well in CG so i thought i'd start making trips to robigo to make some money. So i had a ok 1st trip making a so-so amount. Today i went in for round 2 and stacked a pretty good amount of missions and just as i was leaving as was blown up shortly after docking. I still don't know why or who did it. I'm not sure if i overstayed the leaving time or someone or an npc jumped me as soon as i came out. I think i lost about 30mil+ in potential credits and my A rated asp along with it. Plus the outpost company is neutral to me now which makes getting the better missions much longer. Damn this hurt but i will be trying again! Has anyone else had a predicament like this or any idea of what i did wrong?

Should've did the whole "Xbox record that" thing so we could watch it and try to figure it out with you. And usually if you have proof of a "fluke death", FD refunds you lost money.

Stacking high value missions stacks high levels of risk. If you want to make a boat load of cash cash you have to accept the possibility of being blown to bits.

Awful bad luck old man, what!

I have only taken one trip to Robigo and made a few credits but decided that the whole trip was so mind meltingly boring that I switched to combat stuff instead, what what.

Still, it's a lot of credits to lose, what? Must smart something terrible, what?

Toodly pipsky fine sir, what!

I was a little taken aback when it happened so recording it slipped my mind. Wish i had. I was aware of the risk as i've done stuff like it before but i wasn't expecting troubles as quick as that! Luckily i have money to fall back on but to look away for second then be dead...oof.

I'm a pretty competent PvE pilot so i fancied a change of pace. It's quite nice to put on a long dj set and just fly for an hour or two.

Reading between the lines, I'm guessing that you had taken turned off game sound in favor of some music, and didn't notice the outpost warning you to depart the landing pad. Then, when you actually lifted off the dock you discovered that the outpost had placed a Wanted status on you, resulting in the outpost guns ripping you apart in no time.

I come to this conclusion having the same exact thing happen to me... except instead of listening to music, I was listening to my wife go on about one thing or the other.

Ahh yes, the "spousal interference" is a well known hazard of the game.
I personally have fell foul of the "Dancing Blindspot" which is a wife shaped scotoma caused by not answering an inquiry quickly enough followed by the "pause" enigma.
All of these problems can be rectified by either a deadbolt, or divorce! (One can lead to another) or just play between 7.30 and 8.30 lol ;-)

I think you've hit the nail on the head with that one, i guess i'll make sure to never drop my attention like that again!

Ouch! I gave up on the long distance smuggling as I can't seem to avoid getting scanned, and usually before I've even made the first drop-off. And I refuse to log, even against NPCs. Last time, I got interdicted by a pirate and I was just boosting away ready to high wake out and out of nowhere magic cop appeared and scanned me, resulting in a load of failed missions. I still made a fair bit as I had a number of data carrying missions which weren't failure on scan, plus I picked up a few more smuggling missions as I was zipping between those stations.

Still, to go from 40m to 6m was a bit of an annoyance!

Yeah it's not for everyone, there's definitely a knack to avoiding scans and i thought i had it covered since i made the trip once before my accident. I've made sure my thrusters are 5A so i can boost a fair few times with a pop of chaff just to help. I feel your pain, hopefully if you give it another go you'll have more luck on your side. ☺
