Well. That was a quick trip to Colonia. Might be delayed a bit!

I am starting to have big second thoughts about my trip.
Flying to Colonia in an A-rated T6 now about 1300 LY into the trip. Going well and having a blast. Many "First Discoveries."
Figured when I got there I would buy a T7 or (preferably) a T9 to work serious trade keeping the T6 for everything else.
Planned on Colonia being a Lakon paradise for my 2nd Cmdr.

I knew module classes were limited but didn't worry much about D or C rated modules on the T-Ships. Wrong!
Had some time to play with the Corolis site planning T7/9's with "sub-standard" modules reportedly available in Colonia per 3rd Party websites.
Always being an A/D-rater (and always A's with FSD's) I didn't realize what a huge impact these lesser modules have on T-ship performance. I've never bought a ship till I can fit it out properly. Using module availability I can get a loaded 9 to jump approx. 8 or 9 LY's and the 7 about 12! Most unsatisfactory! And at slow speeds with poor shielding. Guess I have been quite spoiled by the unlimited module choices in the bubble.

So much so I am seriously thinking about turning around and either:
1) Buying and A/D-rating a T7 and flying it out there.
2) Buying proper modules for the 9 and having them shipped out after arrival in Colonia.
3) Staying in the bubble a while longer, grind money, and buying a properly fitted 9 and flying it out there.

I was all excited about my trip, and having fun with it, but I guess the laugh might be on me. Going to sleep on it. :D

Hmm where 12ly range is in the bubble a torture, in Colonia it might not be so bad as you think because it is much smaller. Just thinking....[noob]

Yes that thought occurred to me also.
But the point in going out there was to have fun in a Lakon heaven. And I always wanted to try a T-only career. Was kicking it around on my main account but then Colonia hit me.
Glad I did this at the Corolis site before I got way far out - it would have bugged the hell out of my OCD self.
The more I think about it the more my thought is to return. Not like anything (but time) was wasted as I had fun, made money, and will explore away back to the bubble and after. The only question being buy T7 right now or wait a short bit for a T9. Being an uber T9 slappy I think I know how I will go.

And the easiest thing would be to buy modules and ship them later. That will be quick and cheap.
Buy them (mainly FSD, Thrusters, Shield, and PP), leave them, head back and ship them.
Yes...that sounds real easy and quick.

You might want to also consider Engineering the FSD, Thrusters, and maybe the Power Plant as well.

Were I you, I would also buy (and Engineer) one of every size I might conceivably need. Your T-Career has 3 different FSD's, 3 different Thrusters, and at least 2 different Power Plants.

Yikes.
Appreciate the thought sir but this career has the T6 and about 50 million credits.
Did that all in CZ's and HRES's. Did nothing else. Have no rank no nothing.
If I was to try and Engineer these modules it would be next year before I get to Colonia.
But buying modules for a T7 also probably "future proofs" me. Thanks for that thought.

Boy am I stupid.
Just got back to the bubble and (now!) realized I just can't module shop and put them into storage for later transport. I have to buy the ship type first, then buy the modules, put it in storage, and then sell the ship. Good grief. Oh well. Suffering from ship OCD'ism I just would have fretted in Colonia and would have come back eventually anyway and I planned this to be a permanent move. Time to make money in the bubble. Geesh. Now to find a grinding spot.
