Well... That was, "different." Elite: Dangerous - Strange Phenomenon!

So I was flying out of Ising Dock, (to take my DBX out for a spin after I noticed it in dry dock while outfitting a Cobra, fully A-rate) and I encountered a very strange phenomenon. I was just kinda flying around like 30km away from the station, testing out a weapons set up on my DBX, to see how maneuverable it was and all. (Because I got bored of doing naval auxiliary rank grind in my Python, and was going to take something smaller for assassination/classified data delivery missions.) When I noticed there was this bright white light in the distance, a lone Cobra.

This very strange lone Cobra, was just, sitting there in place, violently humming and vibrating with its engines fully lit, like it was about to high wake out, without actually going anywhere. I wasn't sure if it was a Thargoid about to Allahu Akbar me with some kind of reverse engineered ship, some other unidentified species, a dead/passed out/in the loo Commander who left the FSD charged, or if the A.I. just went braindead and forgot how to throttle to engage its FSD... It wasn't showing up on the radar either, which was strange, but it was certainly there. It wasn't a lag phantom, or some graphical glitch. I messed about with it for a bit, but didn't want to fire at it, because I didn't want to get a bounty in 109. Eventually, I just deployed my weapons, (in case of retaliation) put my head down, and yolo rammed it. It just drifted off, and didn't react to me at all. Now, some would say, "THAARGOOOIIIIDS!" But I'd just say bug. Still, very odd, and the music going all creepy when I approached it didn't help either...

Either glitched AI jumping to another system/supercruise or Thargoids.

You know that's sometimes how it looks when a player logs.. damnit.

Similar bug to the spinning ships in Conflict Zones that sit there doing nothing (except spinning). Totally impervious to damage you can shoot them all day without seeing them so much a flinch.

When I say "similar bug" what I means is
BUGS! AS IN THARGOIDS! THE INSECTOIDS ARE HERE! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!

Please note 'Allahu Akbar' is not a verb! Not to mention oddly fine with the filter and mods, but a word rhyming with Corn but beginning with P? Well, that's a no-no, 'someone' might be 'offended'. I'm more than tired of trying to guess what gets filtered/moderated and what does not.

You can verb anything.

I think he was just talking about that guy from Star Wars, mate. :D

I "Allahu Akbar" pirates all the time. I've seen this once. A pirate scum tried to flee like a chicken saying "too much damage" as soon as he jumped he got stuck exactly like the one in the video. Could also not shoot him anymore...bummer

I've sworn on these boards on more than one occasion, but was never warned, then I said my own name, and was reprimanded for it. My name is offensive apparently. I would say it, but I don't want to get in trouble again... Also, anything can be a verb, including my name.

Yeah! That's who I meant! Admiral Allahu Akbar! Nobody ever asks what his first name is, so it's not too surprising they didn't know who I was talking about!

Got to say I'm getting more than fed up with the arbitrary nature of the filtering. I've contacted the forum admin requesting a list of filtered words, to no avail. And when your own name is filtered, or the name of a station IN THE GAME (which is also a moderately common surname AND was until a few years ago the name of a major transatlantic computer firm!) get filtered something's wrong. I don't have the time or inclination to keep guessing. Bum, butt, ass, , booty, all fine but 'parse', minus the P is filtered. (Perhaps the filter is prejudiced against Brits...) Please someone, somewhere explain. And no, the problem is not that I want to be able to swear, it's that I never know when something I (and many of you others) find inoffensive will be deemed such by the filter. Grrr!
Which is all part of why I called you on THAT comment. I think it was in poor taste, but I'm not going to get offended on someone else's behalf. I would guess by the tone of your reply that you realise you were at least sailing close to the wind, but it's like none of us can tell which comments will get filtered/moderated, which, as adult as this community is, becomes doubly frustrating.
Sorry for the rant. I'll go get me coat...

The filter is all kinds of wonky. There are some non-swear normal words that are fliltered, and yet you can say ass.. I've even gotten in trouble for saying none real words like "shtako" from Defiance. Also yes, I always fly close to the sail. Life's very short, and none of it really matters. Everyone is so sensitive these days, and tip toe around. I do not. I live life to live it, I don't concern myself with politics or anything. I'll be dead in a few years, turn to soup in my coffin, and four hundred billion years from now, I'll still be dead. While someone else will be going to paradise for eternity with droves of virgins to accompany them, lol. But I digress, off topic!

Wow, you actually put your head down [blah]
Ha! That was great.
