Well, this is embarrassing...

I ran out of fuel  In 400 hours since prelaunch beta, I have never, ever run out of fuel. I'm in the starting Sidewinder having just wiped my save. Was out doing the CG for the Diamond Frogs. Decided to head back home to grab my Freegle to play around with. Made it all the way back to my home system, but I wasn't paying attention and like 7/8 of the way to the dock, I suddenly ran dry. I considered putting in a call to the fuel rats just to prevent the inevitable, but since aside from an extra 2 Ton cargo rack, it was a bone stock Sidey I decided a self destruct and Freewinder was a better choice, if for no reason other than preserving my pride in having never needed a Rat lol . Let this be a lesson: no matter how long you've been flying, don't forget the basics because you're too distracted with your Babylon 5 binge [noob]

I nearly ran out of fuel on my Eagle last week. Barely landed at the only place in the system with a refueling point. Then I remembered I had a fuel scoop equipped.

*shrug*

Getting old is awesome.

I had a 8 ton fuel tank on my combat vette chasing after another player run out of fuel near 400,000 ls away from a station after following them to a bunch of different systems.

First time I ever ran out of fuel, least it was for a good cause!

Now that I'm trying to get my FdL upgraded (meaning I have to actually use all available internal space for cargo storage!), I'm constantly almost running out of fuel. Bound to happen sooner or later.

At least you weren't in the middle of the Formadine Rift.... Ahem...
Fuel Rats FTW, my friend!

Hehe, you could have just pretended to be a new player :D
In short probably a good 60%+ of the Fuel rats are sidewinders (Guesstimate). We would totally have saved you but at least you haven't lost anything you care about...

Not run out of fuel myself but in the recent excitement of enhanced AI, I have twice entered my home station without requesting permission first - a potentially life threatening move ;-) Fortunately I know where to find reverse gear!

Awhile back I ran out of fuel in my FDL, traveling to Hutton. Felt stupid for not realizing that fuel is not only consumed while jumping, but also consumed in supercruise. Also saved my pride and just self-destructed instead of calling the rats.

I did that once yesterday too...

In an FDL, I think I would have swallowed my pride and sent up the Rat Signal :D

I don't know which is more embarrassing, not paying attention to the fuel or not paying attention to the route, I bought a cheap sidey and fitted it with fuel scoop, it was to pick up my second ship moving to a new base, did look at fuel, ahh enough for one more jump, off I went, straight into a system with the wrong class star for fueling, fortunately I was on a private server and a friend hopped some 80LY with fuel limpets.

UI needs a low fuel indication or warning besides "main fuel tank is drained". Maybe turns the fuel bar red at 10%? I don't know, just something I always wished we had.

The nice thing about suiciding to the freewinder is no insurance claim. You have a clean record!

Not any more! Got interdicted in my Freegle en-route to go buy a new Cobra. Vulture took me down in about 3 seconds flat. /sigh. But my CG monies bought me a decently outfitted Cobra, time to get things started again for real.

Until I slam into a mountain or something lol.

The one time I sent up the ratsignal was kinda like slowly rolling to the side of the highway with the gas station within sight... I was in the station NFZ and getting ready to request docking permission, thinking "yay, made it.. " but nope.
