No, they might not be stars as such. But Thargoids use hyperspace differently to us. They might have some way of exisitng within it. That map looks like an extra-dimensional reprisentation of what we know as physical space.

So they're sort of like those pan-dimensional beings from HHGTG (which appear in our dimension as mice)?
 
You've already firmly made your mind up that there is no gameplay and there's nothing to be excited about. So why are you asking?

Looks like you can't describe anything. So you agree there's no new gameplay - glad you see it my way [big grin].

Saw this on a youtube video earlier. It's the Milky Way but a very thin map. Perhaps only Ammonia worlds or worlds/moons where they can spawn?

Could it be another galaxy? As in Andromeda or something else? Perhaps with the new thargoid tech comes a way to travel to another galaxy? It could be added to the game, just another procedurally generated galaxy.
