I also found that finding a good trading route yourself takes a while. You may luck on to something really good or settle for a mediocre run. And then because of the capacity of the big ships, find you alter the prices and after a few days have to move on. I got fed up doing my own finding and did the equivalent of talking to people - listening to them. Or to put it another way putting the search words 'trade' and 'trading' into this forum, and thereby getting some ideas which proved quite lucrative. If new to trading here's an initial run for you.

I personally feel this is not the best method. It takes an AGE to get up to speed after leaving a station in Supercruise. You could easily jump to another system and be most of the way towards a reasonably close station in the same time it would take you to travel only a short distance internally.
You're then free to work with a much larger scope of potential destinations.

I am not sure what any of that has got to do with what I posted. I think you were referring to the other guy who suggested trading within a system - and I agree
