Went to "sci fi by the sea" last weekend and i met....

Heh. ♪ Oh, I do like to sci-fi by the sea side. Oh, I do like to sci-fi by the sea. ♪

Reminds me I need to pick these books up sometime. Great to see Drew lurking on the forums here a bit too. :) Sorry, I'm a slacker. Most of the books I get around to reading these days are more for my five-year-old.

Cheers, Commanders. o7

I read Reclamation and thoroughly enjoyed it. I don't have Premonition yet but I will pick it up at some point. So far I have enjoyed all the ED books I have read which have been Reclamation, Lave: Revolution and And Here The Wheel.

I’m currently enjoying Reclamation and will be adding a few more from as many sources as are available.

Am I the only nerd here who would like to see (a decent stab at) an Elite Galaxy based movie? Or should I be more cynical realistic and know it’s best to leave Games as games and not turn them into movies....anyone remember Street Fighter?

Well, maybe a book as a movie. The game itself probably wouldn't translate that well as it's mostly the story we live and make for ourselves within the game. Would probably end up as Starship Troopers 330X or something like that.

On the other hand, if anyone wants to write a book or movie script incorporating me and my ship, The Ronin, feel free to contact me. Would be my pleasure...

Cheers.

Yes I would, and no, I absolutely would not, in equal measure :) I think it would have the capacity to be disappointing given all the imagination and time I have spent in the Elite galaxy since 1984, as it may well not match up with all that. Of course, I wouldn’t have to actually go and see it, so it wouldn't really matter either way, I suppose!

I can imagine the film based on the game..

For unexplained reasons, a fundamental way in which the ship works is changed radically half way through the movie, even though the characters and ship are thousands of light years away from the bubble. This causes no comment or confusion, and yet the new way of working renders a lot of the recent plot pointless. At some point, this new device then starts to fail randomly in spectacular fashion, causing distress amongst the crew and an inability to navigate.

Also, the lighting crew and principal photographer are replaced half way through the movie, but the preceding content is not reshot. An entirely different colour-cast and exposure is introduced, which again is not noticed or commented on by the characters in any way.

Finally, the movie will occasionally just stop for no apparent reason, and when it restarts, the ship and crew are miles away from where they last were, which again is not noticed or commented on by anyone.

;) ;) ;)

An animated series would be good though.
