General / Off-Topic Westworld

I was a bit surprised not to see a topic on this here, so here goes - any other fans of the show here? Anyone else spending an inordinate amount of time trying to figure out what's going on in Season 2?

They made another one? Brilliant, it's about time, it has been years since they made that film. I thought Yul Brynner was great, in the last one.

Glad it's not just me totally confused....

Still enjoying it so far.

There is a superb HBO TV series. And yeah, Yul Bynner was great in the original movie.

Yup. I need to watch episode 2, season 1 was excellent.

So far I am a huge fan, and I am at the same time surprised at the constant quality of the show.
I hope they can keep this up a few seasons and know when to end it, because I don't want to see it go down hill like for example 'The Walking Dead'.
I was a bit afraid season 2 might become problematic, but the first two episodes are excellent.

Thought I saw that HBO has agreed to another season.

What's your boggle? (heh)

There's time jumping again, except this time instead of the black hat's past and present it's the aftermath of the revolt, the revolt, and before the park was built.

Speculation: Black hat built the park to record the peccadillos of the park visitors which is used to blackmail people into doing what they want. This is stored in a large structure somewhere. Deloris and Black Hat are trying to reach it.

Hmm not too sure about black hat. Surely the park had already been made as he would have been too young before the park was built.

Nah, I reckon it's much more than just
blackmail.
Something very deep and sinister going on with
all that juicy guest data.

Funny, I just commented about this series in another post (related to Red Dead Redemption). I loved the original movie, including Future World as a kid and loved the new series as well. This and "Humans" are both great series that I'm glad are still being produced...

Just finished season 1 yesterday. That's an elegantly laid out plot, I was quite surprised. I waited long because I didn't expect much. After all the topic has been discussed and dissected in countless shows, movies, and novels. But this show is intellectually much more stimulating because it doesn't stop at the moral discussion (say like Star Trek TNG (How owns Data?), or Ghost in the Shell). It makes a serious effort to convey the transition from algorithm to self-awareness to sentience, and it doesn't make this transitions appear sudden or trivial.

Loved the series. They put a lot of effort into it. The music is great too. Plinky-plonky saloon bar versions of modern songs were cool.

Loved the original movie, haven't seen the series.

Fascinated by the philosophy of humans interacting with sentient machines, and it's the future for sure.

So I'm tempted to buy Season 1 as a boxed set - worth it?
