Loved the original movie, haven't seen the series.

Fascinated by the philosophy of humans interacting with sentient machines, and it's the future for sure.

So I'm tempted to buy Season 1 as a boxed set - worth it?

I'd say absolutely, but i'd just buy the access to the stream.

Definitely worth it. One of the best series for a few years now.

Yes, definitely worth it. Anthony Hopkins does a superb role in season 1 and so do most of the entire cast. Better than many movies in the genre imo, and HBO's planned premiere series. Some may not be aware there was a sequel movie "Futureworld" (1976) and a short-lived 1980 tv series "Beyond Westworld", but despite a few slightly similar ideas (possible spoilers), the new series far eclipses those. The Westworld movie was kind of Crichton's early theme model in a way for Jurassic Park, although I've always preferred the Westworld idea and movie, and now the series.
