What “3rd Party tools” colonization are you using? What makes a good Colonization trailblazer location? Do only landable high metal planets count?

The grindy time is beloved- I can get by-my questions answered in Discords; thanks all.
Inara, Exomastery are my friends.

Not inara, not inara, but also inara.

I dont use it to identify the closest or biggest source, as i suspect many are doing. I just use it to identify sourceS, then independently assess for whether they will be good or not.

Yes, I’m using the Exomastery for lists of systems with metal rich/ landable within the 16 ly radius of a selected station.
Inara Has landable and atmospheric details and % of farmable minerals on the surface-deets- really wanted to have a land base on a colourful atmosphere planet but but but it was often Out of Date for Colonization Station locations- I mean the stations that are seem to be there to allow a 16 ly green sphere of colonization not actual players stations in progress. Were they added recently for the new feature release?
That was confusing until I went to the system and landed at an ‘colonization’ outpost using their colonization factor to select a target system. So it’s just a normal outpost with reduced services but a ‘factor’.

I don't think there are any tools specifically for colonization, yet at least.

There really aren't great areas in the bubble to colonize. Most of the available star systems that are 15 light years from a civilized system is just a planetless stars.

Once/if people push further out from the bubble, far more interesting areas will open up.

So what's a "great" area? I have a system with 26 different spots I can build things. My little planetless binary will allow six facilities as well. Feels like plenty to go on with now, since I could just chuck down 4 orbis' and have at it?

Of course, it's not hundreds of planets... but what's the aiming mark here? 200 spots to build? A pretty nebula? ELW for cosmetic value?

A great area would be a system with a mix of different planet types, landables, rings, etc, as opposed to 4 stars and no planets.

Most of the unclaimed 0 pop systems are dead space.

Actually, you have more than that. If build an orbital installation it doesn't occupy a station slot.

I've been building in a Brown Dwarf system with 7 landable bodies (6 atmo) and having around 50 locations for building.

Just 7 snowballs, nothing 'interesting' to others, and a heap of similar systems nearby if I want to experiment more later. (after all, from comments here it appears folk want glitzy neighbourhoods to claim, leaving the 'boring' stuff for folk like me to enjoy)

Needed to use Inara to find some bits I'd never heard of, but otherwise use the best in-game resource there is, flying to likely systems and taking a look - I don't do 'efficient', so having fun is the order of the day.

I've just taken a look at some systems in area I wanted to build. I have found nice system with good primary star (no planets around it) and red dwarf type star far away, around 250k ly with asteroid rings, some planets. Anyway good starting system to see how things work. Most ppl tend to avoid those systems where primary port is located far away. That is not a problem if You own a carrier.
After building some installations I have found another system (by pure chance when hauling back stuff for construction), and decided to grab it before someone else has the same idea as I do. I have started with outpost as primary port in it but my 2nd system will start with T3 station. In both cases I want to see how difference between initial population will affect certain things.
The only 3rd party tool I'm using is inara and not for scouting possible system candidates, just to locate few stations with L sized pads, with large population (that affect supply and demand), that sells materials required in bulk. I have bookmarked them so I do not have to search again. I'm just getting back to inara when my construction needs "finishing touch" which equals to materials in small amounts.

Yep, I've definitely gone fishing for systems... I was using spansh to narrow down systems with good amounts of bodies, but I'm finding that's not necessarily a good indicator of number of slots either. My last two are fairly nothing-systems, but have almost 80 slots a piece.

It's a bir of a lottery. From what I'm hearing your economic strength in system will very much be based on the amount/variety/type of surface settlement/outpost you build.
Which sounds off if your system has no landable planets in them
It is a beta after all. Hopefully this will get remedied.

Well, I made the mistake by first claiming a system and later pledging to my favorite power, Arissa Lavigny-Duval. Now I am Hostile in every system around me. So, I finished the system (ICZ PY-R b4-5) and started to look for a new one in ALD space. In the Galmap I set the Map Mode/Civilisation to None and jumped in Eco mode to about 150 systems. Does the phrase System scan complete mean anything? Right, about 95% of the systems are empty. From the remaining 5%, 4 were already claimed and in constructing. Which left me with 2 systems. The one I selected has 11 orbital and 19 planet sites. The main port (Outpost) will be done today. It takes me about 1 1/2 days for an Outpost and 3 days for a Coriolis station.

Btw, I did not find any 3rd party tools useful in locating the system. But now I am in ALD space, not Hostile anymore. lol

Oh yeah, there is this one other system which I have bookmarked and which is still, at the moment, unclaimed. It also is in ALD space. If you are interested drop me a message. And as usual, first come first serve. ;)
