You can imagine the scenario.. Distant Worlds explorer, meandering his way home. Getting nervous now.. the insurance covers any rebuy but nothing could replace the on-board thumb stick with thousands of systems' worth of data. I park the ship up in high-orbit over a star, scooping nice 'n' leisurely like the manual says. Alt-tab to view some historical por.... photography from the 21st century while I wait. And get distracted.
"Aw, crap!" I clumsily stab the alt-tab buttons to take me back again to my ship's controls. What am I going to see*?? (* for some reason, a pilot needs to check his screen to see if his ship has been destroyed, rather than.. you know.. looking down to see if his limbs are still attached and not vaporized)
