Newcomer / Intro What a lousy new player experience

I was hit by the EliteDangerous.32.exe experience full in the face. For the last 48 hours I have been follow poor and even poorer advice on how to get the game to work. I will not go into detail on how frustrating it is to navigate the FAQs for any help especially for such a blatant error. Or how sincerely dumb some of the OFFICIAL advice is...
If you have a porked launcher fix it, don't suggest countless reinstalls and driver updates etc.
I have never in my life seen a professional gaming outfit handle an error in such a shocking manner. And above all you charge triple A staus game prices...

Launcher issues here as well, resolved by actually disabling auto-detect route for LAN in IE internet options. (as suggested in the FAQ)
(temp) Removing the firewall restrictions to fully block IE's internet access.
Actually STARTING an IE instance at a blank page.

From a Stalling downloader to 10-20-30MB/s.

Wish they didn't make it so incredibly dependent on an insecure obsolete browser, but ah well...

I'll have a look the launcherless script as well.

It depends on the winhttp model which the insecure obsolete browser depends on. The changing of the setting in the browser is easier than wading around the registry.
