"What a piece of junk!" - Paint Jobs.

I am sure there are some commanders out there who would like their ships to look old/battle-scarred or just downright battered ... How about FD do paint jobs to this effect?

Would anyone buy a Paint job that made there ship look like it had seen lots of action (and wouldn't 'fix' the paint when you hit 'repair')

A permanently damaged looking ship anyone ?

My Python looks like my first ever car.. White, missing paint, covered in rust and scratches, cracked windows. I never repair the canopy above 80%, paint remains at zero. The ship looks like it's been through a lot, I love it.

Having a paint job that instantly gives that effect is like teenagers spending 80 quid on ripped jeans so they can look Punk Rock

I think if they could make a good paint job that make the ship look like crap, it would be fun to have LOL

An All-rust / battle damage paint job. You just float with nothing turned on except sensors, waiting for some sucker to come steal the few cannisters of palladium you left floating near your 'wreck'

Won;t lie, that would be pretty cool gameplay

Ever since they've added paintjobs I am awaiting for old metal/rusty ship skin, too.

A better solution may be more visual wear and tear than we get on our ships right now... that way if you want a knackered ship you will get one if you never paint her.

add to that, stations elling ships in wildly different conditions, and only able to get new ships from actual shipyards then...... that would be cool imo :)

(that being said i am not against your idea at all either..... not sure an absolute rust bucket would ever happen in space however, unless you picked up your ship from a waterworld or something)

Nope, why do I need to repair integrity? My shields never go down. Paint job issue is fixed in 1.5
I once had let it come down to don´t ask me somewhat 60% and i had several dropouts on my Thrusters and on FSD. Seems to work as sort of an allover Electrics thing. How reliable the Systems are etc. I repair mine everytime.

Talking of paint jobs, a little off the OP topic.

I'm sure we've all seen lots of paint jobs on NPC ships that aren't available in the store.

Other than dev time being focused on Horizons, 1.5 and everything else does anyone know of a reason why they don't release more of them?

I'd have thought this would be a fairly high priority seeing as it's the only additional income they get and that the current selection is with a couple of exceptions rather underwhelming.

I've said this before but I'd love them to release a paint/decal design tool where we could choose from a selection of design templates and then pick the colours we want rather than what we currently have on offer in the store.

I mean seriously, the vibrant, military and tactical packs are all one colour designs...or rather no design at all.

I'm tempted to buy ship skins but nothing on offer has yet made me want to part with my cash, maybe I'll get one for my Asp before I next go off exploring to liven up my screenshots :)

In answer to the OP I think a fix to the repair system would work best so you can keep your paint a 0% if you want. I suppose a nicely designed 'battle worn' skin would be a nice addition.

Why not have custom paint shops within select star ports. Take a leaf out of Forza Motorsport's book, allow the community to design their own.
