What about a Storage Facility

Seems to be me that a Storage Facility would be a useful addition to any commander's estate.
This could take the form of a storage container that could be deposited anywhere on any of the landable planets by the owner. This could of course be vulnerable to attack and plunder by any other commander coming across it. A warning could be flashed to the owner that the storage facility is being approached in sufficient time (or not) to allow the owner to return to defend their facility.
This facility would be useful in storing mined metals, space debris such as black boxes etc. And any other space commodity that the owner feels would benefit from long term storage.

How do other Commanders feel about this?

Your own pirates cache? I like it.

It'd be one means to set up a player driven 'treasure hunt'. Stock a pile of 400ton of adult toys err I mean palladium, and off ya go. Haha.

To expand on this though, it'd be nice to be able to set up remote mining operations outside of the bubble on a scattered set of worlds. Then have them process over a certain number of hours/days of real time, to then have to return to collect.

I wish Horizons had a bit more planetary content along these lines, such as certain more rare worlds where more rare metals/meterials could be mined. Of course such mining operations should be vulnerable to scavengers/pirates. With risk goes reward. What about skimmer defense modules? Eject a 1 ton skimmer mod and X skimmers pop and defend your installation.

Yeah, while it all sounds cool, i'm not sure the ED was engineered to handle managing/maintaining all sorts of active player assets across the universe. It'll start behaving more like the old X games with automated installations and micro-management and the like. While I think that is cool, it may not (?) be in their plan. At least not for the shorter term it seems.
