General Gameplay What about a true "sandbox" map?

What about a true "sandbox" map? Something, HUGE. Start off completely flat, but we can still use the in-game terrain editor. Let's see just how BIG we can make our parks. I personally see myself building something a-la FrostPunk...

The problem is that JWE does not have enough terraforming tools to make a map from scratch, as you mention it. The map would feel very empty without waterfalls, mountains, rocks, etc. I like this idea, but I think we should stick with what we already have in the game.

I totally agree with the limited terraforming tools. I really just put that part in for those that wanted a massive buildable area, but still wanted hills and valleys...not so much full map creation. Just using the exact same engine and mechanics, just make it a HUGE map.

I know it's a totally different game, but I agree a different type of sandbox mode would be better, one that allowed us to build our own Islands like on Operation Genesis.

The tools in OG was very basic but it worked. Sometimes the simple things are the best things.

That’s what I’m going for. Nothing needs to be added/modified to any gameplay mechanics. Just a flat map. Some of us may not give two...ahems...about ‘realism’ in the terrain. If I want to go for maximum efficiency/income, cool. If I want to make hills and valleys, the tools are already there and function just fine. I’m good with how the water looks. The trees and shrubs also look good enough. I actually tend to only play the campaigns SO far, then go straight to the sandbox. In fact, sandbox is the MAIN aspect of sim games that suck me in. I’ve got over 200 hours in Banished, and I don’t think I’ve EVER gotten over 300 citizens, when other people have hit 1,000’s in less than 50 hours. Sandbox is what keeps my replay value up there. Now I got a sandbox where I get to play with DINOSAURS?!??? Gimme.

Would also be nice to have sand box / challenge mode for the other islands. I like playing challenge mode but I am getting tired of Nublar.Wouldn't mind doing it on Pena or Muerta.

Same with me. I dislike the fact that JWE does not have a fully-unlocked mode for Sandbox by default, though.

I guess we'll never have one, considering how the game was designed and crafted.

I also want this to be a reality, since we already have the limitations of ONE island that is already premade and not exactly part of our imagination
