What about Factories like in X series

I wonder why there are no factories like in X series. Example - Factory A producing item X when item Y is needed to do it. It will make trading more dynamic. More opportunities. I think it's very easy to implement.
In overall I don't want to copy strictly X game but use good ideas....

Modules and weapons don't run by this way... I think you can imagine goods are produce on planets and just sell in space stations ;) However, modules and weapon aren't tradable goods...

It would also lead to players, or guilds of players, cornering the market in item Y. This sort of play is something FD has wanted to avoid from the get-go.

Actually in the Design Documents they say that every element in the element table will be minable sonner or later.

From there it is a small jump to crafting. But as far as I know there are no crafting plans communicated as of now.

I like the idea. If station doesn't have goods for a long time it might become liability to it's owners and might be conserved/demolished/abandoned. Getting stuff out of the thin air is not that fun. I'm for the living breathing economy at least partially influenced by players.

P.S.
I spent insane amount of time pacing X universe. Good times. Sad that I missed old Elite.

As far as I am concerned crafting does seem to be a gap in Elite. Maybe they will consider it in a future update if there is enough demand and they can come up with a system that is good enough for Elite Dangerous. Considering the thought gone into game systems so far you can pretty much guarantee that it won't be something shallow and simple.

If there are 400 billion star systems I doubt anyone could seriously corner a market in anything. It might affect a small group of systems, but if it becomes a pain everyone will just go elsewhere!
