ED can / could be acquired in different ways:
1.Baker: A Baker bought the game as a patron / noble donor during the development of the game. As a lover of spacesimple he does not associate with his purchase any economic interests in the sense of a circumscribed return. He can not and does not want to make any claims to the future design of the game.
2.Regular buyer: A regular buyer buys the game as it is at the time of purchase in the form of reviews, trailers, advertising of the manufacturer, etc. The game he plays as long as he has fun with it, then he puts it aside.
3. Sniphunters: A bargain hunter buys the game on special offer. He therefore makes little demands on the game and is more or less surprised by the game. If he does not like it puts it aside.
4. Subscriber: A subscriber not only buys the game in its current state but invests in future services. Unlike the Baker, he does not do this as a lover but purely for economic reasons. The subscription should be worthwhile in the future. In return for the purchase of the subscription, the company immediately receives liquid funds. This allows them to overcome financial bottlenecks, finance developments, etc. In return, the subscriber, as a kind of regular customer, receives a discount. Due to advance payment he drives in the future cheaper (Vgl gym, amusement parks, hotel reservations etc). A subscription, such as an LTP, is therefore a contract. The buyer pays at a Day X for promised future services of the provider.
FD sold about 6 months after appearing of ED as a subscription Lifetimepasses. At that time, ED was heavily promoted since at the end of 2015 Horizon came out. It was promised there would be paid extensions each year, which included 5 updates. That is, every 21/2 months, new game content should appear!
What content this was I posted in my first post: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/408474-I-am-very-disappointed-from-FD
At first on the online portal of FD a Lifetimepass was offered for a short time at a price of 30Euros. - Unfortunately, I did not learn about it until it was discussed on the forums. At this time, it was already taken back from the shop, obviously it was a mistake.
Somewhat later (about 7 months after the release of Elite Dangerous) a "regular" Lifetime Passport for about 170 Euros was offered for a limited time. It was addressed to existing customers who already owned Elite Dangerous. I decided to buy an LTP (Lifetimepass) for economic reasons, because I knew as a space-sim, sci-fi and elite fan from the the first hour on (1984), I would remain faithful to the game for the next 10 years (at that time peaple talked about a 10 years devlopment plan) Unf
Unfortunately, as you all know, things went different.
To date, ED: Horizons has remained the only extension. There were no more extensions just patches !. Of course you can not ask for money for patches. The DLCs, which were promised when the concept of the annual Seasons was buried, have not shown up so far, yes, theire are not even mentioned by FD anymore.
With the patch 3.0 the concept of paid Betas was buried too without official comment or regret. There are now open beta tests. I'm not surprised about this. Who pays money to test patches without new content ?
So I had prepaid benefits as a subscriber that are not provided. After 4 years I may notice that, because actually, acording the promises of FD, we today should be in Season 4 and benefit from 12 gameextensions (not patches !) instead of 4 or 5.
I feel now raged from FD 4 fold:
1. The expected content / seasons / extensions are obviously not produced
2. I feel disadvantaged because I paid much more for the same product compared to others
3. Instead of understanding, I get a long nose from the community -> https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/408474-I-am-very-disappointed-from-FD
4. I spent 140 Euro for no reason
It's like having a fitness subscription or subscription to a theme park that has not been fully completed. At the time of purchase, only a few small lanes, or a few fitness Equipment is available.
However, the Operators laid glossy brochures in which wild rollercoasters or sauna landscapes, etc. are depicted.
They also mentioned that prices would gradually increase following the expansions, following new railways / sauna landscapes. Since one knows that he would use all of this promised features in the future with pleasure he subscribes happily a subscription.
After three months, the operators then suddenly announce that the the promised railways / sauna landscapes would not be created. They are considering a different concept. Since the existing tracks, fitness equipment are still deficient they would have to mend these first. To compensate for the inconvenience, the operators offer indefinitely free admission for all.
It's not about the money but about the principle. If I go out with my wife that costs me more than 140 euros. But I also get a corresponding consideration!
I would be happy if FD apologizes
