What about Mining Ranks?

As already suggested many times in the past I think now this is really becoming a must.
Trading Elite is now a joke with LTDs and other mining exploits.
This can be rebalanced by introducing Mining Ranks.
Elite rank for mining should be something that requires hundreds of thousands of mined commodities and the selling of these of course should not affect trading rank. So becoming Elite would be more meaningful

Elite would become meaningful again by adjusting that fatal mistake of mining to where it should be. How can ranks rebalance the fact that while we enjoyed years of wonderful gameplay in order to afford and engineer a few goal-ships, now tons of new players who havent yet learned how to fly, come boasting fleet carriers and trillions of credits?

That’s another topic. Here I’m not talking about economy rebalance because it has already been discussed in other multiple threads

I don't disagree with you OP, but I'd suggest that if this came in, then mined commodities should be taken out of the trading rank altogether, which I recognize you alluded to in your post.

They could reset trading for this counter, but imagine the salt, as I'm sure you already have lol!

I just think you may get a lot of carp for this suggestion sadly, but it would stop people complaining that they're getting elite NPCs after them and they can't fight them as they're incapable of flying their ships otherwise - if the mining rank was removed from the NPC mission pirates that come after you!

"I got interdicted by an indestructible NPC elite conda, who destroyed my cutter in ten seconds - this game is so unfair!"

To stabilize the Trade Rank progression, Mining Rank would increase on which events? Processing the refinery contents? And then the sales of processed fragments would have to be removed from the Trade Rank equation?

I agree something should be done about the Trade Rank, since my alt went from zero to Elite in one day selling LTDs.

exactly!

...so how does that work exactly? When you leave the starter zone you automatically become Elite in Mining?

How does a ranking system differentiate between immediately making 10 billion and making 10 gajillion over time? It's all shades of too-much.
Mining rank should only progress on specific mining events. The sale of mined commodities should be removed from the Trade rank progression.

I don’t really get the ranks. They’re just markers with no benefits. Combat, you killed this many, trade, you earned this much, explo, you went this far.

A mining rank for me would be annoying. That and CQC, sat down the bottom on zero.

Not saying that’s no reason not to but I’d like to see some other benefit for reaching ELITE rather than a decal for the ship.

You forget the access to Jameson’s memorial with all ships and outfitting modules with the 10% discount

Why not just yank the mining profits from trade elite and pap the units mined into the players progression to mining elite? That would make trade lite mean something again, as in more than "I got this when I mined LTD's for a weekend".

That was how I interpreted your initial post, it shouldn't be that difficult to implement. It's the retrospective changes that would be amusing for salt mining!

All those ranks mean is you spent a bunch of time doing those tasks. None of them required skill, just time spent.

And as a bonus, it'd kick half of the noob-E-leets out of shin dez 😈 - but that would only be a benefit as it would save them getting ganked of course... :sneaky:

I agree with this. I got my Elite in Trading DC-ing VO's in a Keelback. It shocked the daylights out of me since I'd hardly done any actual trading at all - just made a few VO runs.
Now - I like Deep Core as it currently stands - it's fun, rewarding when you find a good 'roid and make a good charge set, and has a lovely payout. It should not be included in the Trade rank system, since it is a skill and activity unto itself.

Maybe Mining Ranks would be set to:

1) Surface Miner: "Digger" 500Mcr.
2) Surface Miner: "Administrator": 1Bcr.
3) Sub-Surface Miner: "Workmam" 500Mcr.
4) Sub-Surface Miner "Manager": 1Bcr.
5) Core Miner: "Blaster" 500Mcr.
6) Core Miner "Foreman": 1Bcr.
7) "Elite" Professional Asteroid Miner: Once you have all three and 5Bcr. Total

A forth category of Elite would be added for Mining, separate from Trade.

System permits would be awarded for triple hotspots for LTD's, VO's. Painite, others...

But it will never happen.

o7....

I like the seven ranks - it fits the seven dwarves, so they could be named after them - sleepy, dozey, numb.nut.s and so on...
(I don't know their names...!)
