What addons/plugins to use?

Back when the game came out in Xbox I put about 350 hours in it, then moved to PC (talked with support to transfer my assets as currency to the new account), bought and outfitted an Asp Explorer and pretty much stopped playing (that was back when the Thargoid crash sites where being discovered), now I logged back in and I'm about 5 klys from the bubble, no idea what to do.

Figured I might as well start by adding some plugins to the game, any advice?

The EDDB.io site is especially useful for a lot of things - especially trading but also for locating materials, stations, where modules are sold etc. I flip back and forth between it and Elite Dangerous all the time (just make sure you play ed in borderless fullscreen mode so you can switch easily)

The add-on/plugin EDDI is also very good. A font of information provided to you while playing ED with a voice interface. Works very well in conjunction with Voice Attack but you don't need voice attack to use it. It's voice interface is editable so you can edit EDDI's voice messages and responses to your liking - pretty easy to do too.

Thanks, I knew of EDDB as I used that all the time to check for trade routes but I didn't know about EDDI. What's with Voice Attack? What exactly is it?

...btw a bit off topic but my SRV just ran out of fuel is there a way to refill it without coming back to the bubble?

Planetside go to inventory/synthesis and manufacture fuel and even repairs with basic materials you collected. More complex SRV/ship/ammo synthesis can be accomplished with mining lasers, refinery and limpets but that's for another thread.

You can't really go on serious exploring without EDDiscovery. It not only keeps track of your log files, but has 25+ modules for about anything (including planetside navigation).

Well . I had not collected anything at all, spent just a few hours driving around and taking screenies, thinking the SRV refuels when getting back into the ship. Should I try going back out and collecting the materials while on low fuel?

Thanks, looking it up now

I don't really use any of them.
Coriolis.io for throwing together ship builds to share, that's mostly it.
Sometimes eddb.io if I'm looking for something particularly obscure, otherwise pretty much everything you want to know can be found in-game if you look for it.

Voice Attack is a program designed to control other programs with voice commands but mostly used for games.

Elite Dangerous is well suited for it - especially if you don't use a HOTAS controller.

Relatively easy to setup and you can have a base set of commonly used ED commands in it within about 10 minutes or so. You can go really complex (think HCS voice packs which use voice attack) or easy like saying, "landing gear" to raise or lower your gear. "Heat Sink" to fire one off. If it's a command in ED you can set it up in voice attack and have it execute without ever touching your keyboard or other control device.

Costs $8 - been awhile since I bought mine - might be more now - maybe less - but worth every penny IMO.

I use EDiscovery but haven't found it to be all that useful at all. The documentation is confusing. I've never been able to get the voice interface it references to work.

Perhaps the modules you speak of would be of use. Where might these be found?

Ah, I see, I do use a joystick (a T16000M, planning on getting a second one) but that sounds like it might add to immersion

Click on the '+' sign of the main tab panel. Didn't try the voice interface, though.

I currently use;

(Demo videos on sites)
Free Stuffs:
  • EDDI Companion App - It's like COVAS but better, customizable and FREE. Some light programming experience is needed for customization but comes fully functional on install.
-Some examples, EDDI could tell you whether or not the pilot interdicting you is wanted or not, can automatically raise your landing gear after takeoff from station/surface, verbally update you when you've collected enough of a material(s) that has been set, warn you when your fuel is low, and much more. Combine this app with VoiceAttack (below) and you can push the functionality to the max!
  • LEA Extended Input - Turns your smartphone or tablet into a virtual controller. Unlike a similar product ROCCAT Power Grid, this gives it's user much more customization, utility, virtual joystick axis' and sliders, a full canvas and different style buttons to move and edit (rather than the "grid" ROCCAT imprisons you in).
Pay for Stuffs:
  • VoiceAttack - Voice Command like Alexa. It's fully customizable and 10USD but can be used with any game (pending EULA of game to be played - usually marcos infractions). Some light programming experience is needed for customization but player profiles are free and available from several different scources as well as specialized profiles with celebrity voices (HCS Voicepacks) for an additional price.
  • ED Tracker - A cheap and accurate head tracker. You can buy it pre-made for the extra cost of convenience or DIY for the cheaper route if you have a little electronics experience. It's literally a Arduino Micro micro-controller, custom PCB and MPU 9250; solder together, flash the IC (software free) and calibrate. Use opentrack to emulate the controller to your PC. I bought just the PCB and enclosure from the tracker site and the Arduino and MPU from Amazon.

What is the minimum that synthesis says you need? I can't remember off hand, but they should be very easy to find and within a short distance of the ship (assuming you pick the right planet).
