What an amazing place.

I don't know what more to say. My visitors are happy, the animals are happy, the workers are doing their jobs, though the mechanics are to busy with research. I bet they repair the barriers better when there is nothing more to research.

Things are fine. And soon I'll have the many 10K's for the animals I want to buy. Thank you mister trader, you are not spoiling my game. I can't say that for

every new player though :(

Pro hint: Place spotted hyenas close to the entrance. It brings smiles on the faces of your visitors. :D

I recommend using a dedicated mechanic to do your research work. You can click on their 2nd tab (the one that looks like a briefcase) and make sure that only research is selected. I did this for mine, who I had eventually promoted to 5 stars. When everything is researched, you can reassign him to other jobs

First thing I always do in a new zoo is hire one vet and one mechanic and rename them to replace their first name with "Researcher". Then I maintain a workzone with the research buildings, and staff rooms labeled research (and updated as the zoo expands) for them.

I guess it's up to the player/manager to find out why a staff worker doesn't do its job. I wished the mecaniciens did their jobs just as good as the veterinarians.

Vets have nothing to do 99% of the time (other than advanced research, which doesn't even matter).

Mechanics are running around the zoo:
  • fixing enclosure fences
  • fixing power facilities
  • fixing water facitlites
  • fixing broken education boards/toilets/ATM
  • doing research (and the mechanical research takes forever)
It's no wonder they don't do their jobs very efficiently compared to the vets. I try to get all my engineering research done before I even build any enclosures/facilities in my new zoos.

I didn't think of it that way. But than again, I give my engineers only two jobs: research and repairing the barriers of two enclosures. Noting more than that. Maybe the engineers need to learn about priorities. A broken fence is more important than the research on fluff items and themes. The vet stops any research when I need an animal moved, there is a sickness, an animal is escaped or is wounded. They always do that running.

The vet equivalent of repairing fences is inspecting enclosures (not moving animals, or dealing with wounded/diseased animals). If you call an engineer to fix something, they will drop their research, same as if you ask a vet to move an animal. Maybe the zookeepers should specifically 'call' an engineer to come fix the fences if they notice the fence is below a certain threshold (I think vets get called if they notice an injured/sick animal).

Maybe it's an issue because vet inspections and research both take place in the enclosures (though I don't know if they also do their inspection while researching in an enclosure); mechanic's research and fence maintenance takes place in two totally different areas of the zoo.

Also the fact that if you have enough keepers, animals rarely get ill - if the vet is missing inspections, I'm not sure I would even notice. The fences are constantly degrading so that's always something that needs to be dealt with.
