What animals can go together

I'm a sandbox-only person planning a new African zoo after being away from the game for an extended time. I want to make a really big habitat with a jeep ride through it kind of like a safari. How can I find out what animals I can put in it - ones that will get along I mean? They don't need to benefit each other, just tolerate each other :)

I recently did a gemsbok and fennec fox habitat and they seem cool.
I’ve done several times an Okapi/Bongo/Nyala.
I have put Aldabra tortoise with lemurs and aardvarks.
The apes and mandrills get along.
All of the savannah herbivores get along fine.
meetkats and aardvarks like each other. At least that’s what I can recommend

This is what I want to put in this giant habitat. What do you think? Will they get along?

Common Warthog
Common Ostrich
Plains Zebra
Thomson's Gazelle
Reticulated Giraffe
Giant Anteater
African Elephant
Gemsbok
Okapi

Will work like a charm, though giant anteaters are from South America so they do not belong in a African savanna habitat if you want it realistic.

besides that Okapi perhaps need a bit more bushy/tropical area, they don’t live on Savannah’s either. But that’s said if it doesn’t need to be realistic it would work fine in a sandbox zoo.

Thank you very much! I'll nix the Giant Anteater and reconsider that Okapi.

All your herbivores should be fine together. Since you're going for Africa-centric that list looks okay except what's already noted (the anteater). The mains thing with just putting any animals from a continent together is:
1 Nothing should trigger the predator/prey system. That is, most carnivores aren't going to be kept with other carnivores, much less any herbivores. There are a few exceptions and some things I'm not sure on. The meerkat might be okay, and the fennec foxes are fairly small so may not trigger the predator/prey system for larger herbivores. Primates are a bit more complicated, some species are a bit more aggressive than others and I'm not sure to what extent they're coding in the predator/prey system.
2 To a lesser extent, even if the animals are all from the same continent, they will have different terrain and biome requirements. But, there's not a need to hit those perfectly and can definitely have some room to get most animals in a comfortable zone for those. Plants in particular, the larger the coverage the higher the hit it makes on their welfare, but even with that, it's not very high. Terrain does get a little trickier though but I think in Sandbox it would not be a worry.
3. Final "thing". enjoy your return to PZ and good luck on your habitat!

Generally elephants are kept on their own, maybe with some small fowl but that's it.

I'd also recommend warthogs on their own. Anteaters too, plus they don't really fit imo, being a South American animal. The okapi is very shy, and a jungle animal, unlike the others you've mentioned, except the gemsbok which is dry/scrub.
