What animals have you never used?

Ok another question cause I am bored 😊. What (habitat) animals have you never used and Will probably never use. Why?

I have never used the malayan tapir. Sure it is a bad model but I have always prefered a central or South American tapir.

I never used the Common hippo. I guess I like the pygmy hippo more.

Canines like the Polar wolf, dhole and Red Fox cause they don't interest me. I actually think about using the dingo for the first time, now that we have more australian animals.

The european badger cause I am waiting for the honey badger.

Prezwalski horse also not that interesting for me

I try to use all of the animals from time to time, but some of them rarely get used, mainly the animals that have a very similar counterpart, for example:

Siberian Tiger - I always use the Bengal Tiger just because I like it more and prefer the warmer climate tiger
Bonobo - I just like the chimpanzees more
Himalayan Brown Bear - I actually used it in one of my zoos inspired by one zoo in my country that actually keep them, but I prefer the Grizzly.
Aldabra Tortoise - I dont have any particular problem with this tortoise, I just prefer the South American Galapagos more.
Springbok - I prefer the coloration of the Thombsons gazelle.

Personally i love all the animals and I've used all the animals at least one time but usually I don't open many zoos I tried to focus in one zoo
So definitely my least used animals are the general the African tropicals animals because my main zoos are in the Tundra and Desert but sure I would use in another future project :)

I've used every animal (except the Grasslands pack at this time) at least once.

The ones I almost never use are the great apes except for the gorilla. I also don't use the HBB.

I tend to not build African savannah habitats, either, so most of those

From the top of my head: Polar bear, Arctic wolf, sable antilope, bonobo, hbb, thompson gazelle and all of the Grasslands animals besides armadillo. There are likely a couple more tho.
In most cases there is just a really similar animal in the game that i just like more.
Sable antilope idk i just never used them in my africa sections, have nothing against them tho.
And i case of the Grassland gang i just didnt get to them jet :)

Played the game since release and wow I need to hang my head in shame:
  • African buffalo
  • Arctic fox
  • Arctic wolf
  • Black wildebeest
  • Blue wildebeest
  • Dhole
  • Dingo
  • Emu
  • Fallow deer
  • Red deer
  • Gemsbok
  • Giant panda
  • Hippo
  • King penguin
  • Maned wolf
  • Moose
  • Nile lechwe
  • Nine banded armadillo
  • Nyala
  • Platypus
  • Pronghorn
  • Przewalski horse
  • Red fox
  • Reindeer
  • Scimitar horned oryx
  • Spotted hyena
  • Striped skunk
  • Wild water buffalo

I still haven't used a lot of animals cause I tend to build my zoo in the following order: africa section and then north America. But north America seems to be jinxed since I always get tired of my zoo at that point and start a new one. So this time I am skipping that part 😆

Haven't used some of the newer DLC animals because of lack of time, but will probably use most of them.
Never used the Gharial and most other crocodile species. I mostly have temperate zoos and feel like I need an indoor area there and am always too lazy to do so.
Never build for the Nile Lechwe and not sure I'll ever will. Same for the striped hyena. I just prefer the spotted.

Aside from the Grasslands Pack animals (haven't had much of a chance to play lately), the list is:
  • Grizzly bear.
  • Bonobo (had big plans for them that never came to fruition).
  • African elephant (plan on using them in my current zoo, though).
  • Cougar.
  • Giant otter.
  • Moose.
  • Beaver.
  • Thomson's gazelle.

Never except to research them for a steam achievement- Proboscis Monkey. But that was just in a research zoo.

Black and white Lemur (already had the zoo research achievement so i no longer had to research every animal)
Spectacled Caiman
Striped Skunk
Red Fox
Red Deer
Blue Wildebeest
Armadillo
Striped Hyena
Caracal
(Yes I’m a bit behind on the newer packs)

I’ve used everything else at least once but theres some i think ive used only once.

Playing since the SEA pack and the animals i haven used are

Grizzly Bear (Used HBB Instead as an EBB standin instead)
Zebra (Never build a big savanah habitat before + i prefer most of the antelopes)
Both Hippos (On the list of stuff that i want to build for big style, but first i gotta get to them)
All the Apes (while i had plans for the orangutan at some point, none of them have fitted into my zoos so far)
Thompson Gazelle and Spring bock (See Zebra)
Both Wildebeest (See Zebra)
Okapi (Havent build a tropical africa section before, also an animal i regulary forget that it is in the game)
Indian Elephant (Had plans for them in my first zoo, but got to big for my computer to run. Currently building/procrastinating the african elephants so props will take a while)
Pronghorn (Not particularry standout ish animal, also the modell looks kind of ugly)
Siberian Tiger (Only build once for tigers so far)
Giant Panda (I like building zoos inspired by those in the ruhr area and while great zoos (including the yearly winner for the best german zoo) none of them have pandas and while ive seen them before in berlin, they seem both to high profile and to much of a pain to build for)
Dingo, Koala, Platypus, Wombat (Till the emu and wallaby i never really had interest in building an explicit Australia area, only using kangaroos and cassowarys as inbetween habitats cause they are quite dope)
King Penguin (Got plans for them in my current zoo)
Giant Otter (Didnt fit spacewise into my SA section in my first zoo)
European Fallow Deer (My most anticipated animal for the game, but i havent gotten to use them yet eventhough i allready have plans for them in my current zoo)
Ibex (Very cool animal with the possibility for very specialised habitats that i allmost used but then kind of just didnt and have now put the racoon habitat in the planned space instead)
Proboscis Monkey (Funny monkey without zoo presence goes behind all those apes with zoo presence i havent used yet, especally the siamang)
Fenec Fox (Had plans in my first zoo, but like the indian elephant it got to laggy to reasonably build for them)
Southern White Rhino (Build for indian rhinos before, now elephants and hippos come first)
The entire North America Animal Pack besides the prarie dog (great animals but i prefer other cats, pinipeds, deer and crocodiles over them. That said i defenetly will build for the moose in the future with the beaver and arctic fox being on my checklist of animals i defenetly wanna build for)
Black and White Ruffed Lemure (lemures were my 5. habitat i ever build so while quite some time ago, no new desire to build another lemure habitat yet)
Capybara (I took a longer break before and after the wetlands dlc, literally just building a habitat for the red crowned crane, but these guys are planned for my current zoo)
Domestic Waterbuffalo, ASCO, Spectacle Caiman (Same as above but without any current plans)
Amur Leopard (Less cool then both Jaguar and Siberian Tiger)
SCO (Once a desert pack arives im sure they will be used, but they are among my top filler ungulates i still want to use)
Red Fox, Striped Skunk, Red Deer, Ninebanded Armadillo, Maned Wolf, Striped Hyena, Bats and Butterflies (I havent played since the twillight packs release and only started playing a bit last week where i started building a racoon, emu and wallaby habitat cause love <3. everybody else gotta wait)
Caracal (Seperated cause i propaply will put them in next once im done with the love trio)

Quite a few animals with most dlc animals up to the SEA pack being used and afterwards mostly just pick and choosing favorites of the new packs.
Another contributing factor was that my second zoo was made up of animal choices people in these forums gave me , even though ironically only the african penguin, red kangaroo and my choice of the giraffe where the only animals i havent used in my first zoo.
Hopefully i will have some more good sessions, so that i can also check the caracal, european fallow deer, king penguin and siamang quite soon

West african lion - a real eyesore because of the cartoony look and the wrong, "sticky" mane of the male model. It looks as if taken out of an old cartoony game and doesn't fit in PZ at all. I really can't look at them without getting hate feelings.

Malaysian Tapir - wrong model with purple hue, real eyesore, too.

Orang Utan - It looks and behaves like a reddish painted gorilla. No option for me to use.

Both elephants - their models seem a little "off" to me, I don't know exactly why

African dog, Dingo, Dhole, Hyenas - I'm not really interested in

Babiroosa - You don't see them in german zoos very often.

Polar bear - Too complicated to fulfil all their needs

Hippo - Model looks too big?, I rather build for the Pygmy Hippo

Giant Panda - Hyped too much. Always looking on those very pink and red habitats including flowering trees covered in snow on you tube has freaked me out. The model seems to look ok, but all in all too cartoony vibes for me.

I really never use any of the antelopes. I got them once for research to get the steam trophy but that's it. The pronghorn is the big exception though. Cause I put them with the bisons to enrich each other. Other animals I really never use are beavers, pygmy hippos, prairie dogs, skunks, raccoons...

No offense but may i ask why you dont use the antelopes?
Thats such a varied and colorfull group of animals that also dont need super specific enclosures.
I totally get not using most of them, but none?
Is there an actual reason for that?

They're constantly stressed and I'm not a fan of antelopes. They just don't click with me. I especially remember the Nyalas and Bongos were a total pain in my lower back. They even were born scared to death and they liked it so much, they always ran right to that one spot (yeah, 5% of the habitat that were visible to guests) where they surely would get stressed out to the max and stay there panicking until activists would arrive. They died as they were born: scared.
