What animals take priority?

So we all know what animals we want but what animals are objectively the most needed and thus, are in front of the line over all other beasties?

For example, I'm a massive sucker for hoofstock. However, the African penguin would certainly have a higher amount of priority than something like an eland or nilgai.

Ya get me?

It's an impossible question to answer, really. Priorities are entirely dependent on a person's opinion.

For me, it's either the southern white or eastern black rhinoceros, followed by the meerkat. I could also say the North Island brown kiwi, but because I know it's extremely unlikely I also know that it would be next to pointless to mention it.

There are many animals I would love to see, but rather than specific species that we need (because it is very subjective from person to person), my list contains types of animals that I feel are missing and would be wonderful to see:

1) Smaller species that can fill places between large habitat such as meerkats, fennec foxes, smaller cat species, platypi(?)....
2) Semi-aquatics such as penguins, sea lions, otters,....are quite common in most zoos.
3) Flying birds - I would be fine with birds presented in a way like in JW:E - looped animatons in aviaries.

meerkats. Never mind my signature probably makes me biased towards them, but maybe I'm biased towards them mainly because they are so iconic and popular. They just seem to be in a quite a few zoos as far as the states and Europe go. They also seem to be very popular with kids. I honestly cannot imagine not ever being able to put meerkats in my game.

After that I'd say the Black or White Rhino, probably the Black Rhino, and then it's really more varied. Penguins I tend to associate more with aquariums but maybe that's just been in my experience. So given that, are they really popular zoo animals or just popular animals in general? After that I'd say the Cougar (aka Mountain Lion/Puma). Beyond that, there's quite a few animals that are fairly representative of the regions or biomes they are home to, but are they really common in zoos - the African Leopard (who I really want in the game), for example, may be a common thought African animal, but they're not common in zoos.

So yeah I'd probably say meerkats, the Black Rhino and the Cougar, maybe a type of Penguin if they are more common in zoos than I realize.

If I had to choose penguins, I'd pick Humboldt or African since weather-wise, they're fairly un-picky compared to emperors and kings. That means building a nice exhibit will be easier and cheaper.

In short I would say a few flagship species: My top 3 would be: King Penguin/Black Rhino/Golden Lion Tamarin
Everyone recognizes them and those species fit the zoo theme veru well.

I saw hoofstock mentioned by other users and on other lists as well. Going with the "continent" logic, NA or Europe could be next - which has a nice selection in hoofstock species.

Smaller species would be great as well: Asian small clawed otter/meerkat/prairie dogs/yellow mongoose. When I zoom out in most zoos - habitats are big. I really want to create smaller habitats to balance the look of my zoos.

Birds - while most people talk about aviaries. I would like to see bigger birds: vultures/pelicans/Crane birds
Since we already have the flamingo - it doesn't feel out of place.

I'll gladly settle with the Humboldt penguin - it's a very popular animal in European zoos. Like you mentioned they are not picky compared to the King Penguin. Personally I would like an animal that's more picky about their environment but there's a certain charm to easier species as well. Personally King Penguin because it has more appeal but i'd be very happy with the Humboldt's.

Good list, seems pretty well thought out. I forgot about the Moose when I was making my list, that's definitely an animal that should have priority when a NA or European (if we call them Elks) get made. The only one I might disagree on is the Sea Lion, even though I myself have shortlisted it for a coastal pack. That's due to the marine mechanics. I'm not sure what I'd add though - the Wolverine seems like an odd choice for priority animal, but yet it appears on quite a few lists. I'd say the Capybara, but given we've already had one SA pack, I'm not sure another SA pack is a priority, though I definitely hope we get there someday. Maybe a Rocky Mountain Goat or Alpine Ibex, for alpine/rocky type terrain in NA and Europe respectively?

My priorities are the ones that introduce new mechanics or behaviours so semi aquatics like seals and otters would be great, I'd love aviaries and birds of prey are high on my list and I'd love more primates that aren't the great apes. We have some smaller monkeys with the capuchins but gibbons would be awesome and marmosets. If aviaries become possible and now we have the light options I would love fruit bats as well.

for some reason canine Clones are taking high prio ( or just dog persons are real in Frontier) im all in for both eland, rhino or penguin. but i guess the highest priority should be Animals being new challenges for devs like penguins or eagles. making such mechanics as fast as possible would make future content making easier.

Penguin of any kind

Sealion of any species

Any african rhino

Leopard
of any subspecies

Meerkat

Moose

Otter

Beaver

Puma

Gibbon

Those are not my favourite but I think those are the most requested by the community :)
I think this pretty much hits the nail on the head, but I would definitely also include a species of fox, and maybe the capybara.

I just realized there is an iconic reptile that needs to be added for exhibit animals, a King Cobra, or at least a cobra of some sort. Exhibit animals aren't my general interest but that is an odd missing choice. Hopefully when they get around to Asia or if they do the subcontinent of India, and I know there are cobras also in Africa. I can't rightly think of any other exhibit animals that are "must haves"

Imo animals that bring the game to the next level. Like the introduction of a penguin or otter which would introduce new animations and mechanics to the game. Or aviary type birds although they’d probably be ran on a loop to some degree which is fine because it would bring another level of realism to the game. I guess the sort of animals that the big question remains can it or can it not be done? After this it’s tough to say since we all have our own animals we’d want to see get in. I think meerkats are a important addition. Perhaps gibbons, cougars, small cats, and more birds would be great. Not to mention a ton of other animals I’d love to see but I guess will just have to see what frontier has in store for us.

Personally I would say aquatic/aviary birds should take priority in expansion packs - so that the pack is an actual expansion on the game.
(and not just only more animals)
