Everytime I go in there I end up in the budongo trail building it's always like a ghost town. Must be incredibly unlucky with my timings, the talks when I'm there are usually in the tropical house (sloth and armadillo) and the penguins. But then in recent years I don't know if there are any different animals inside the chimp building, there's a more recent expansion behind the penguin habitat called 'wee beasties' where all the insects are found. The budongo trail building has a jungle like area but I must go past that area fast enough without looking for animals.Edinburgh Zoo used to have a talk in the Budongo Trail building involving spiny stick insects. I have photos of myself with one on my head.
Looking for these stick insects, there is a note that stick insects were transferred to Dudley zoo in late 2012. Can't see them on the zoo website but a TripAdvisor review states got to hold a stick insect in 2017 - ah whatever
