To make the packs equal 8 while acknowledging the exhibit animal
Deluxe could go anywhere so I’m going to skip it. I’ll follow the formula we have so I’ll skip aviary animals until we officially have aviaries.
Arctic
Musk ox
Arctic fox
Wolverine
Walrus
I can’t think of any cool exhibit animal that would have been included
South America
Manned wolf
Rhea
Andean bear
Australia
Tasmanian devil
Emu
Platypus
Aquatic
steller sea lion
West Indian manatee
Marine iguana

This Asian animal pack is rather interesting in the fact we are receiving 8 animals. Obviously the demand for building sets weren’t as high as the base game had some. Moving forward I could see Africa being the same. Aviary also but building sets are needed for this. Now once we move to regular packs again if we do would we get maybe one or two extra animals? I guess will see in the next pack. I will say hats off to frontier in listening to their players and putting up with the criticism although we all know players just care about the game and want the best. I watched some alpha play of PK and although it looks great I think PZ will always be my go to game. Let’s hope frontier will commit themselves to this amazing game for a few more years.

Arctic

1. Arctic Fox - a small, adorable little canine
2. Musk Ox - not actually a bovine
3. Wolverine - a tough little mustelid that can take down prey as large as Moose. If they were the size of Wolves or Bears, they'd be the strongest animal alive
4. Small Exhibit: Arctic Woolly Bear Moth - a strange animal where the Caterpillar takes up to 7 years to pupate

South America

1. Maned Wolf - a beautiful "fox on stilts"
2. Greater Rhea - our 1st South American bird
3. Capybara - a semi-aquatic rodent that gets an interspecies bonus with Giant Anteaters, Baird's Tapirs, and Capuchins

Australia

1. Wombat (any species) - Wombat are just unique marsupials (their pouches face backwards)
2. Tasmanian Devil - a carnivorous marsupial in danger from a mouth cancer, I believe
3. Tree Kangaroo (any species) - a Kangaroo that lives in trees

Aquatic

1. Platypus - a monotreme with poison spurs (I've heard they're painful) and uses electrolocation
2. Beaver (any species) - both species are practically identical
3. Sea Turtle (any species) - any species that can live in a normal zoo I'd take

More now than ever I feel they should consider a "throwback" animal pack, featuring animals from the first four DLC packs, something like:

1. Musk Ox (Arctic)
2. Walrus (Arctic/Aquatic)
3. Maned Wolf (SA)
4. Capybara (SA)
5. Emu (AS)
6. Yellow-Footed Rock Wallaby (AS)
7. African Penguin (Aquatic)

Arctic
1. Arctic fox
2. Wolverine
3. Red breasted goose
4. European common adder (in a new temperate exhibit)

South America
1. Patagonian mara
2. Kinkajou
3. Northern helmeted curassow

Australia
1. Tasmanian devil
2. Common brushtail possum
3. Perentie

Aquatic
1. Brown fur seal
2. Oriental darter
3. Loggerhead sea turtle

Deluxe Edition:
  • Komodo dragon
  • Pygmy hippo
  • Thomson's gazelle
  • Mishmi takin
  • Golden cheeked gibbon
  • Shoebill
  • Victoria crowned pigeon
  • Jackson's chameleon (exhibit animal)

Arctic Pack:
  • Arctic wolf
  • Dall sheep
  • Polar bear
  • Reindeer
  • Muskox
  • Arctic fox
  • Alaskan elk
  • Alaskan least weasel (exhibit animal)

South America Pack:
  • Colombian white-faced capuchin
  • Giant anteater
  • Llama
  • Jaguar
  • Red-eyed treefrog
  • Southern pudu
  • Blue-billed curassow
  • Yellow-footed tortoise

Australia Pack:
  • Dingo
  • Eastern blue tongued lizard
  • Koala
  • Red kangaroo
  • Southern cassowary
  • Tasmanian devil
  • Southern hairy-nosed wombat
  • Perentie

Aquatic Pack:
  • Cuvier's dwarf caiman
  • Diamondback terrapin
  • Giant otter
  • Grey seal
  • King penguin
  • European beaver
  • Green sea turtle
  • Japanese giant salamander

No point in worrying about the Deluxe Pack, IMO.

Arctic
  • Arctic fox.
  • Muskox.
  • Wolverine.
  • Alaskan wood frog (Exhibit).

No great surprises there, pretty much what everyone else would do.

South America
  • Capybara.
  • Bush dog.
  • Black howler monkey.

Adding another monkey on top of the capuchin might seem controversial but zoos tend to have an abundance of especially South American primates, so I think the more the better. I would have perhaps preferred a tamarin or marmoset but since we don't know what is possible in terms of small animals (the smallest we have so far is the capuchin, I think) I figured something more regular-sized would work better.

Australia
  • Northern hairy-nosed wombat.
  • Tasmanian devil.
  • Emu.

I mean, having both the emu and cassowary in one pack probably wouldn't fly, but it still blows my mind that the emu was excluded in the first place.

Aquatic
  • Great white pelican.
  • African penguin.
  • California sea lion.

Another penguin and another pinniped, but the pelican would probably be the star of this little add-on.

Everybody wanted a gibbon (or siamang) in the south east asia pack. I guess the brachiation mechanics were too much for PZ to handle with this pack?

Anyway I don't normally care about the boxes aka. exhibits, but I can't help feel like the south east asia pack was a missed opportunity for Mudskippers in the "new/semi new" vivarium exhibits introduced in the aquatic dlc. They would really match that mangrove vibe that proboscis monkeys and gharials give off in this game. Just my two cents.
Mudskippers for life.

My personal additions would be as follows:

Deluxe
Don't mind as it is now but should there be an anniversary update.
Southern White Rhino (Ceratotherium simum simum) - [Near Threatened] OR Blue Wildebeest (Connochaetes taurinus) - [Least Concern]

  • Polar Bear
  • Reindeer
  • Arctic Wolf
  • Dall Sheep
  • Musk Ox (Ovibos moschatus) - [Least Concern]
  • Arctic Fox (Vulpes lagopus) - [Least Concern] OR Wolverine (Gulo gulo) - [Least Concern]
  • Alaskan Moose (Alces alces gigas) - [Near Threatened]
  • Wood Frog (Lithobates sylvaticus)- [Least Concern]
South America Pack
  • Jaguar
  • Llama

I’m sad we got the arctic wolf over the arctic fox, the dall sheep over the mountain goat, the blue-tongue over the Frilled Lizard, the Dingo over the platypus, the llama over the alpaca...

I would have added the Leopard in the deluxe version, just to get it over with, now it has to waste a space in an African expansion, and many MUCH, MUCH MUCH more interesting animals are options there, but for sure nile croc and leopard are gonna waste a spot now...

I don't think the Nile crocodile or the leopard are guaranteed. As far as crocodilia go they seem to be covering the major groups - so logically the next one will be an alligator to round it out, which would likely come in a North America pack or a Wetlands pack or something. As for the leopard, the African leopard, while iconic, is not the most important one to global conservation efforts - that falls to the Amur, which again, if they go to another part of Asia we might see it.

As far as Africa is concerned I suspect we might get the caracal as the cat (or the serval, but the caracal seems more likely), and a bird rather than a reptile (the grey crowned crane has been highly-requested, or the marabou stork, secretary bird, or, as I hope, the southern ground hornbill).

I suppose the only thing really pushing in the direction of an African leopard is that it's highly-requested despite all the other options. Though, the Persian leopard is also highly-requested, is more common in zoos, and would represent both an underepresented region (Middle East) and biome (desert), so that's an option, too.

In saying all of that, we might never get a leopard at all. There's a chance they added the jaguar and decided it was good enough to cover that base, despite being a different species entirely.

Let’s dream big, if I am allowed to add some animals to existing DLC let’s also change some of the already existing.

Base game

1. Himalayan brown bear to Spectacled bear
2. Bobobo to Lar gibbon (I would love to see it one day but I don’t really care for a proper brachiation)
3. Nyala to Giant Eland
4. Aldabra Giant Tortoise to Amur leopard
5. Japanese macaque to Lion-tailed macaque

Deluxe
1. Thompson’s gazelle to Mhorr gazelle

2. Red river hog
3. Somali wild as(s)
4. Scimitar oryx
5. Père David’s deer

Arctic change to North America
1. Arctic wolf to Wolverine
2. Dall sheep to Bighorn sheep

3. Cougar
4. Moose
5. Musk ox

S.A.
1. Llama to Guanaco
2. Capuchin to Black howler monkey

3. Capybara
4. Maned wolf
5. Coati

Australia
1. Dingo to Tasmanian devil

2. Tree kangaroo
3. Emu
4. Wombat

Aquatic
1. Gray seal to Harbor seal
2. Caiman to Alligator

3. Manatee
4. Beaver
5. Sea lion

We really need to push this thread. There are only so many packs that they'll put out, so they should at least update the ones that we currently have and give us those extra animals. There are a lot of missed opportunities. Platypus, Capybara, Moose and Walrus are just a few of those must haves. I think everyone is happy with 8 animals per pack, that only seems fair. Since there are a bunch of DLCs out already, there will obviously be a limit and without Frontier granting modders access into adding new animals, rather than just replacing exisitng models, it would be a shame if there'd be a limit. There are simply too many animals.

Think about it, we will maybe get a Eurasia Pack, Desert Pack and an Aviary Pack with a selection of smaller birds. But in my predection that's probably about it. I don't believe that there will be a marine DLC with sharks and whales.

I think I speak for most when I say that the South America Pack was the biggest disappointment of them. Most biodiverse place on earth but still, only 5 animals. So I was really satisfied when they raised the bar to 8 in the latest DLC.

This thread should stay relevant and I hope Frontier sees this and listens so we can get as many amazing animals as possible and once they're done with the DLCs, give the modders some tools and options to add even more.

I wish more developers would see their projects as a project of love, rather than just some industry. The best games are usually from small studios that just keep on giving free updates even after years. So I really hope that this won't be another case of a game that is just being abandoned right after the last DLC dropped and if it is, I hope they'll at least give their community the tools and mod support to keep it alive.
