Then I don't see why mentioning cooperation as a part of human nature in response to my statement in regard to competition being a part of human nature relevant to this point that you are clarifying. So now we're onto the topic of PvE, great, so it is still MP, what about it?The point I was making was people don't necessarily want to play multiplayer for pew pew pew or bragging rights.
Edit:
To clarify in this case, empirically human nature seeks pleasure and avoid punishment. Pleasure in this case is the pleasure in emerging victorious in a competition, while the punishment is loss in said competition. Cooperation is an instrument to gain that pleasure, of course, so is competition. They are equivalent in that sense, but I made a human nature claim to argue against the complaint against the constant "imbalance" in MP, which I did not find including cooperation into the picture fitting against my particular argument.
As I said, some people like to play video games alone, without multiplayer, so that their gaming enjoyment is in no way dependent on random strangers on the internet. That's a pretty clear statement I made, trying to muddle it does you no credit.
The original comment was that PvP ruins the experience of people who dislike competition or the frustration that comes from defeat. If we want to play strawman, I can easily claim that your statement is muddling with mine.
I asked for certain perspectives that are inappropriately placed to be placed optimally. Someone earlier just told me to leave and find myself a programming team and build a different game for simply answering to the thread, you should perhaps direct your warning to that person (Can't name and shame unfortunately). If you don't want to read someone elses posts then add them to your ignore list, don't demand they leave the forum.

Also, I don't think ignoring people is going to solve anything intrinsically.
There is an entire Solo mode/Private mode and countless NPC, what more can you ask for? Not to mention because of those modes, they broke/crippled MP features. Also relevancy in this case depends on the magnitude of MP as a genre in the gaming industry as you yourself extrapolated it into, which is fine, but ill-suited for the thread's topic since the only valid argument over it falls back on the criticisms of development teams and leadership in the development/maintenance processes. It warrants its own thread.I mentioned Elite specifically and gave examples. We've been promised updates to what was a pretty unfinished product launch. The updates arrived. EVERY ONE featured multiplayer features pretty much exclusively, with single player content being in very short supply (only the recent mission revamp really qualifies). This leaves many of us wondering about the direction the game is taking - the implied topic of this thread.
Quite simply more and more multiplayer features without anything for those looking for an organic, interactive universe that we can enjoy on our own will turn a lot of people off from the game. It might attract newcomers, who knows? But that's the shape of it.
The current crippled state of MP due to the catering of Solo players frustrate equivalent, or even perhaps more players (speculation of course). The completeness of a MP experience may attract newcomers, as well.
I'm certain by now you can see where this argument is headed, I say that we both give one more round of rebuttal each and stop there to prevent thread hijacking, or continue in PM if you wish.
