What are shield cells and boosters different, how do they work?

I finally got tired of waiting for my shields to recharge while in combat so I want to know the difference in shield cells and shield boosters.

I have a Vulture with 5A shields. When taking on a Python or Anaconda on my own it can take a long time to get one killed if I have to keep letting my shields recharge and then go back into the fight. While my shields are recharging so are theirs!

So I would like to know the difference in the two shield addons and how do you make them work (this key stroke does this, that key stroke does that, etc.)?

This maybe the most important question, in v1.3 are either even worth having?

Sheild boosters add to your shields making them stronger. Like adding more layers to it.
Shield cells re charge your shield. its that simple :)

shield boosters simply increase the pool of shield points you have. they don't increase the shield recharge rate. Shield CELLS are one shot shield recharge potions that use ammo. and in your situation sound like what it is you are after. You want a Shield cell bank.

Shield boosters increase your maximum shield strength - it'll take longer to recharge to full, but it'll also take more damage before it's empty. They're passive - just fit them and go.

Shield cells rapidly restore current shield strength, provided the shield is still up at all. You can either bind them to a fire group or set a key in the control setting to activate them, or both. They have limited charges which need reloading at stations.

Shield boosters are utility slots (where chaff/heat sink launcher etc belong). They increase your shield strength by a percentage. For example 1.04 would give you a 4% boost to shield strength.
They stack additively so 2 of those would give you +8% shield. These are passive and as long as they are powered on they work. They increase the time it takes for shields to recharge but if you loose shields you can power them down to put your recharge rate back to normal.

Cell banks use ammo to recharge lost shield rings and exist in module slots (where cargo racks etc belong). These are active and can be bound to a fire group to be triggered like weapons or they can be bound by the cell bank key to operate separately.
Multiple shield cell banks will all fire together unless you power one down.

Both are pretty much essential for player vs player and keep you in the fight much longer. Would 100% advise for combat if you have the space, power and weight to spare.

I fly an A rated Vulture as well. A5 shields, A0 shield booster and a 4 ammo shield cell bank. I have never had to run from an Anaconda. Are you using 'Target Sub systems'? If you target the Condas power plant, it will die in half the time. I use a C3/G beam laser, and a multi cannon. You also don't need speed against the Anaconda (unless you running away), so make sure to use your power management. You want at least 3 pips in weapons, and 2 in sys.
