What are some fun things that an Imperial Courier is just purrrfect for?

Taking advantage of the celebratory rank-easing from the Emperor's new lease on life, I purchased a Clipper and a Courier despite being a filthy commoner and nothing like nobility. I already know what I'll use the Clipper for (a trader ship that can hold its own in Open), but... what is the Courier really uniquely great at? What are some fun ways to really enjoy that ship?

I noticed I could outfit it with an A3 power plant instead of a class-4 and still get enough power for two beams, a rail-gun, A-grade shields, thrusters etc, so doing that powerplant "downgrade" boosts the jump range and lowers the heat. But I don't even know what I'm going to use the ship for yet, so... suggestions? :D

It has insane shielding capabilities. This is a build I've been using to do my merit grind in PP (against transport ships):

In-game, it's mentioned 618 shields in the shipyard, so I dunno what's up with the slight differences in calculations between the site and game, but still: 600+ shields is freaking high, especially for such a small ship! I only attached the AMFUs because I wanted to stay out in the black for as long as possible (2 to repair each other). You can upgrade the FSD to A class if you want to spend more money (the power isn't a problem for that). Some people might do a different setup with more SCBs instead of SBs, but TBH, this was the first ship I actually took SCBs (and only had to use one once because I was making severe mistakes while fighting a wing of 3 (if you must know, Orca plus 2 Cobras, all Dangerous ranked)).

Basically, this ship is a shield tank and quite capable of fighting mid-range ships. Also... it seems it has quite good lateral thrusters and I often fly sideways next to my enemies while using the gimbals to shoot at them.

Edit: My posted loadout accidentally included the Reactive Surface Composite. That's not actually what I run (and thus the ship costs around 7-8 mil). I just use basic bulkheads.

The Imperial Mary-Sue ship.

Honestly, at 35 tonnes it should be IMPOSSIBLE to fit all that inside the ship.

I wonder if they fudged the stats and should really only have S2 modules for S2 shields and S2 cargo modules.

-It's BASE shield with S2 are 197 shield
-A Federal DROPSHIP has 200 shields with a S5 shield.
-The Imperial CLIPPER, the big brother of the courier has 180 shield with S6 shield generator

The weight to shield ratio in that ship is INSANE - especially if we go to 600 shields and it STILL has energy to spare.

Hell, it would be a damn good ship with a MAXIMUM shield of 200.

Its best at beating a Vulture and then watching it low wake out because it cannot exert any form of masslock on it.

While you make a good point on how powerful the shields are, I think the issue is that it's because it weighs so little that the shields are able to be so good. That weight is likely the entire reason the shields are capable of reaching 600+. Then again, I've heard some people mention that if you include SCBs into the mix, stuff like the Clipper will have far more shields effectively. With the 4 charges I've got, the shields effectively have 1078MJ. In a pure shield tank Clipper (costing WAY more), before SCBs, you can reach 550MJ. With SCBs (and maxed number for some reason): 3502MJ. TBH, that literally leaves no power for anything besides E rated stuff and no weapons. So you really will have somewhere between 550MJ and 3502MJ in a Clipper.

Edit: That doesn't mean the Courier doesn't have some crazy shield stats, but just goes to show what is possible when people start going nuts with SCBs. The Courier is paper when you finally get past the shields, though.

Its great for dogfighting, seeing all those uber-powerful big ships desperatly trying to turn to shoot at you.

It's a great little skirmisher and smuggler. I love that ship. :) Very nimble, amazing shields. Lots of fun to fly.

I enjoy it as a little warbird - three multicannons and lot of shielding. These RATATATATATATA and CLANGCLANGCLANG sounds make me cry in glee.
Totally ineffective and totally fun :D

It's good at killing eagles! >.<

In all seriousness tho, the ship is very very good. Lots of shields and reasonably maneuverable. Her problem lies in not being able to mass lock much...
