I've only played solo so far and have got the basics covered. Hoping I don't get annihilated every time I leave a no fire zone

When you dock at a space station you can access the Galnet news feed. There's a panel down the right hand side with it after you click on station services. This will let you know what is going on. The panel also contains information about bounties in the sector and a traffic report.

Yes saw that one - allegations that two majestic class interdictors have been sent to squash are being denied it would seem..

I'm expecting that the rare plant mention is a hint that a rare (illegal) good will be available to traders who like to take a risk. If so, nice one, FD

Thanks all, yep seen the slave revolt post etc now. Guess I will be fighting / trading my way over to that part of the galaxy and see what's going down!

Any story lines going on will be seen through the GalNet news feed, and local missions.

Some stories are more epic (the recent illness of the Emperor, for example), but most of them are local, like a slave rebellion or a system changing faction influence. Notably, these stories are forwarded 100% by player involvement!
