Community Event / Creation What are the rules on NaNoWriMo in this forum?

So I'm getting increasingly tempted to do something silly and try another NaNoWriMo this year (short version: Write a 50,000+ word novella in the month of November). And this time I'm thinking of setting in the E:D universe.

I figured posting it to the forums would be a good way to keep me going and let people read what I'm doing.

Are there rules regarding this I should be aware of?

Do you mean about posting on the forum, or the NaNoWriMo?

Anything posted on the forum should be relevant to Elite dangerous and conform to the forum rules, other than that, it's all good :)

I was more thinking the forum rules to be honest, although if FD have a problem with their fans writing long fan-fics for non-commercial purposes then that would probably be relevant too.

*shrug* probably best to assume it's ok and beg forgiveness if not after the fact. If I'm posting to the FD forums then it's not as if FD are powerless to stop me if they have a problem with it.

One thing to bear in mind is language. With forums being a family-friendly place we have rules around this and whilst on most of the forums for writers use of strong language is allowed if it's part of the written text rather than the post itself, that's not the case on these forums.

That's a good point, I was planning on keeping language in the realm of frak, smeg and Belgium but it raises the possibility that descriptions of violence and such might be a problem. Can someone link to the general forum rules so I can have a full read through?

Thanks. I reckon I'll be ok with content, but just to be sure I'll pop a hefty triggers/content warning on the first post. I'm not planning on advocating actual illegal activity, just bit of space piracy, and slave liberation :) I'll have a mind to keep descriptions in the PG-content area.
