Newcomer / Intro What are these low pay missions about?

In many stations, I see missions on the bulletin that often require me to haul something over 10ly away and reward me with 700c.

Obviously, no one would bother with them. Is there something I'm missing here? :p

Some are for small ships/new players. Some are small enough that you can take multiple hauling missions at the same time. And you can always stock the rest of your cargo hold with additional stuff.

Plus, hauling missions will tend to get you rep with the faction that offers it, and improve the local economies.

You only get low paid missions at first, later when they like you they offer better missions. Also courier missions don't pay more than 1k at most, best to look for light hauler missions.

DO THESE MISSIONS!

It will increase your rep within those systems and various factions. Where I am now, I am allied with two entire systems I am trading. I have noticed that all the police that are 'green' in SC seem to come close to me, almost like an escort. Also, have not been interdicted since this rep title. You also have a nice new addition when exiting to star ports where you are allied. I like the new addition! ;)

This ^^^ and of course, 700cr will buy you a fuel scoop. When you have a Sidewinder and 100cr... anything is worth doing.

Correct. I still do these missions if they are going to systems I want to build my rep with. Heck, I grabbed a few courier missions (no cargo) last night that paid ~6 - 700 credit each, and I have millions! But these increase my rep. And increased rep means you will begin to see higher paying missions. Now that I am allied, I am seeing missions in the 200 - 350 thousand range. As friendly I was only see up to 110 thousand. So do all that you can do. It pays off in the long run!

Thanks for the clarifications :)

Does someone know whether a good reputation will decrease the chance of getting scanned? (So that I can smuggle stuff in and out?)

No it doesn't. I'm allied all over the place and get scanned every time.
