What are your favorite Tormentor mods?

I've got a Tormentor with Faster Handling and Noise Suppressor.. I'm pretty sure I'll add Audio Masking to it so I have an all-around "scan denial tool."

But for the last slot I'm not really sure what to go with. I was leaning towards increased mag size.

I wondered about stability, but with just how slow this gun's fire rate is I'm not sure that reducing recoil is that big of a deal.

Am I overlooking one of the other mods that works really well on the Tormentor?

Not in my opinion, I have one with Faster Handling and Audio Masking and can't think of anything that useful to put on it either. I was also putting it off, hoping in vain that the Colonia engineers would also introduce a new mod or two.

I've got Noise Suppressor, Magazine Size, Stability, and Stowed Reloading on mine.

First one is obvious, it's the must have mod for this gun (as you know!). I went with Magazine Size since the reloading times were so bad - I waffled between this and Reload Speed for quite a while, but since its a sidearm and not a main weapon (if I'm being swarmed, then the "big gun" comes out since at that point I'm already rumbled) I decided I'd only need it for a couple of shots at a time, and walking around in settlements with weapons drawn tends to bring unwanted attention. Which then brought me to Stowed Reloading - so every time I unholstered it, it was fully loaded and ready to go. Stability... when you get to the tougher targets - especially when they're shielded - then you need multiple shots to take them down, and keeping the barrel on target helps massively with that.

I'm now toying with the idea of getting a second one with Audio Masking and Noise Suppression as well, for the same reason you gave but don't think I'd want to sacrifice any of the other three.

Agreed, all the (good) plasma weapons have high damage and low magazine size, so I consider stowed reloading a huge QoL boost. The Tormentor is a six-shooter though, so I don't feel like magazine size is a big help, so long as it's always full when you draw it.

Stability is nice, but maybe not so crucial if you're mainly using it at scan-denial range?

Mine has
  • Noise Suppressor - usually it's paired with an Audio Masked Executioner, so it's an obvious choice
  • Range - better damage at medium range, sometimes i use it as rifle :)
  • Stability - makes recovery faster and so easier to follow up with higher precision shots
  • Stowed Reloading - QoL mod, kill someone, pull out the scanner, next time the weapon is fully reloaded (Exec mentioned above also has Stowed Reloading, so they work well together)

Magazine size was also an option but i didnt want to give up Range nor Stability 🤷‍♂️

Something Odyssey does better than Horizons, demonstrated in this thread.

No clear meta, many viable playstyles & mod combinations.

(y)
I don't know that I'd say there's a clear meta for Horizons PvE either. I believe the OP is talking about NPC encounters here, after all. I don't even know if many people are doing Odyssey PvP seriously yet, much less whether they've settled on a meta.

Man these are some good suggestions that I hadn't thought of...

Stowed reloading is a good point because I don't mosey around base with the thing drawn so that makes perfect sense.

But the longer range sounds good too because I didn't think about the damage drop-off. With the Tormentor being the first gun I've upgraded (since it's the most versatile), I find that I tend to just use it as if it were my primary weapon and thus end up using it at range frequently...

Lol.. I've definitely got some thinking to do..

yep, basically i use the Exec mostly at longer range or vs solo targets.
if i get swarmed, it's Tormentor time be it at close range or even against sharpshooters that support the commandos from medium or even long range

Bigger magazine is no good. Hardly ever empty the clip. Stowed reloading all the way

And miss as few as possible

Faster reload (for when there are lots of NPCs)
Increased magazine size
audio masking
noise suppressor

despite having at least 1 G5 with 4 mods of all weapons I use it for almost eveything and these mods seem to do the job

Well I put a Scope (and extra Range) on an experimental Tormentor so, while it might not be a proper Varon-T, it sure feels like one!

Range - better damage at medium range
So plasma weapons also have a damages falloff ? It feels so strange to me to think that a flying ball of plasma would do that.

(How about the Exec and even the L-6 then, 'Greater Range' too ??)

Nah, even a G3 Exec is deadly at 150m. A G5 one doesnt need extended range IMO
L-6 has 300m range already :)

But lack of extra range is noticeable on Tormentor and even on G5 intimidator when it gets bugged and gets to concentrate everything in a single slug...
