For me personally, this is a bit of cheating, because i only am building on my third zoo so far, with not even one animal showing up in all 3 of them, but i know which ones i dont really have a need to use, so they are gonna be my least used.
So the one animal that i know will be in every, single one of my zoos giung forward is the black tailed prariedog.
Small, cute, fits basicly everywhere i have a spot open, i really really love these guys.
They edge out a little over the meerkats, but thats just personal preferance for these temperate little rodents, that i personally also find cuter.
Two other animals that often pop up in my zoos are the reindeer and the nyala. Funfact! The nyala was the second animal i ever build a habitat for and since them when i just need a random hoofstock species i just pop in the nyala. They are just simly beautifull and i love the yellow bits.
The reindeer mostly falls here, because it was the only cervid in the game for 2 years, but eventhough i will also include the fallow deer in a lot of zoos moving forward, i doubt that the reindeer will fall out of my favor. I allways wanted more deer, but that doesnt mean i will leave my savior behind.
But they also just have a gorgeous modell, afterall reindeer are quite gorgeous animals themself and their grayish brown white coloration allways reminds me of coffee or hot chocolate, which makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.
Just love these guys.
An animal i just started building my first habitat for is the lion. I know many people have grapes with especally the male one, but it looks allright, while the females look absolutly amazing! I love seeing them run around and building my habitat for them has been alot of fun so far. They were the only species of big cat not present in my first zoo, but better late then never to fall in love with it.
The last two ones i want to mention (for now) are the red kangaroo and the dhole, two of my favorite animals in the game, but for totally different reasons.
The kangaroo just IS the animal with the best movement in the game and i love to throw them into filler habitats, as they fit in basicqlly every zoo and serve the same niche of ungulates in the zoo ecosystem, but totally different in apperance and locomotion, making them really refreshing jumping across your meadows.
The other one, the dhole, is not just my favorite animal in the game, but also a very, very flexible one, near essential for every asian themed area and one i talk often enough on the forum, so likly you allready know my extended opinion on these red golden boys and girls.
For some animals i weirdly havent used yet, apes come to mind.
Its not that i dislike them but i never felt a need to build for them. I really wanted to build for the orangutans right in the beginning, but the spot got slipped away by komodo dragons and since then my wish to build for them just became slimmer and slimmer.
Rn, i think gorillas would be the most tempting but not really fit into my current zoo.
Another few i allways wanted to build for are elephants and hippos. I even planbed out where i wanted my asian elephants and hippo house to go in my first zoo, but ot just didnt happen because the zoo had grown to large (but i migt revisit once i got my pc cleaned up as i know finally have the asian ungulate i wanted to put next to them)
I think its just because they are so big and need so much space that i push them back on the priority list till i just dont get to them.
The last one are the giant pandas, which literally has to do with the fact that i like building less budget zoos, so it feels wrong to include them, but the PairiDaza crowd of builders propaply finds great use for them.
All in all i like all the animals in the game, with only the bonobo feeling really redundant and the HBB should have been eurasian, but overall, very happy with the animal selection!
