What are your total earnings from?

Without checking, I know for a fact that I only made around 10 mil in Exploration, 5 mil in Trading of Rares/Normal Goods. Most of my money initially came from doing BB missions. In the beginning I didn't have a "home", I just did BB missions, grabbing them from one place, jumping to another, handing them in, grabbing more, etc etc. Once I had enough I started settling down places and now a bulk of my money comes from RES bounty hunting, with the odd 100k from a Conflict Zone I run across and participate in for the heck of it.

The final rank for each profession is an unholy slog (if you are solely gunning for it that is).

I'm pushing through Deadly at the moment, up to 47%. My kill count has skyrocketed LOL
I just checked, and I have 2,100 ship kills! 0_0 Now, in any other game, that would be nothing, (I think I had 50,000 Spartan Ops kills in the first month of Halo 4 alone, in fact, I recall reaching max rank just by doing that...) but in a game like Elite, where it can take minutes per ship sometimes, that's quite a few actually. Knowing me, that was mostly bounty kills. So lots of standing around waiting, scanning, then choosing to kill after selecting the powerplant... Man... That's a lot of time... It's still not my few thousand hours in Skyrim though at least. >.> I am still ashamed of that. Think I have around 600 hours into Elite? Give it a year or so more. I'll be playing Elite for a while yet. Hell, I spent close to 1,300 hours in the horde mode of ME3! ...still never maxed my manifest... DAMN YOU M7 LANCER! YOU STILL EVADE ME TO THIS DAY!

But I digress, I've gone off on a tyrant.

With my new found understanding of how ranking up my combat rank works. (Yes, that's Elite for you, someone with 600 hours, and Dangerous rank, can still not know how ranking up even works... >.>) I may actually start going into CZs again, for the higher concentration of ships. Might find more Elite ships faster to rank up. But, actually, that doesn't even matter anymore! 1.6/2.1 gets rid of rank requirement! Now it's merely a recommendation! If the mission is Elite, a Harmless player can take it! It's just more of a difficulty warning now.

Chelomey Orbital, Cubeo. I'm there because there are two conflict zones within .15LS of the station, and the outfitter has every weapon I need in case I want a change.
I don't know of a better (quicker) way to rank up

I actually stopped off there a few times while running food from Chel to Adle for charity missions. Currently 80% Lord! Soooo close to ranking up! The charity missions have been very plentiful today. I've gone up the whole rank of Lord today alone, when squire and knight took over a week... I just have a Python, with 200 tons for grain, food cartridges, meds, etc, an interdictor for occasional assassination mission bulks in Yaque, and mostly d-rated for max jump range and normal flight speed for the data deliveries.

I meant combat rank. The charity missions are a bonus though, and I've got a Type 6 there because the odd 1million+ smuggling mission pops up

I heard CNBs helps ranking up combat but I'm not sure if that's true. I haven't been able to find the thread since though. I've been in a HazRes and i was at 63% dangerous when I first posted, after about two hours I was up to 70%.

If anyone could corroborate if Compromised Nav Beacons increase combat rank faster, let me know.

They are the Nav equivalent of HazRES so should deffinitely work the same.

I'd use CompNavs for credits, conflict zones for rank. You get far more per ship for bounties than combat bonds, but conflict zones are stuffed to the gills with elites and deadlies

I switched from Combat Zones to my Res because it felt like I wasn't ranking up at all. I wasn't on for a while so it could have been a patch that fixed it but I very rarely came across an Elite in a CZ. I get at least 2 elites and a lot of deadlies an hour in a HazRes.

Maybe I'll try out another CZ when I get home from work. Luckily there's currently 2 different wars being fought in my home system so I don't even have to search.

In case you don't know, only target ships of your own rank and above. If you're Deadly, shooting a Master will have no effect at all
Reading more carefully, you know this already. Sorry

I've mostly made cash by BB trade from the start... some illegal... most not. A lot of mining, some blowing stuff up and a bit of indentured poor people trading once I had a Cutter.

Largest single transaction: 7 million creds (roughly) I managed one run from Sothis with 326t of crispy gold in the Anaconda before it was forever nerfed (along with all the rest of the BB missions)

Profits from Robigo: intense boredom, frustration and around 25mcr before I vowed never to go there again...

Ahh Robigo, I tried it once. I got a boatload of missions all going to th same station/system. I was doing everything right, submitting, turning towards the cop, boosting away and continuing on my run.

Then it happened, I was getting interdicted so I submitted. Except this time my screen kept showing the drop from SC, once I finally entered normal space I was notified that I was scanned and my missions failed.

Definitely was a problem on my side of the connection
