What can be added to the galaxy?

While we are waiting for the next big thing in 2020, what can be added to the game's galaxy for us to find:

Comets
Proto Systems - systems where planets have not formed yet, or are in the process of
Rogue Planets

Any other types of galactic features people would like?
 
Accretion disks around black holes, rogue planets that are very difficult to detect, comets, asteroids big and small in orbit around the local star, remnants of ancient civilizations, fresher remnants of not-so-ancient civilizations, spacefaring civilizations that are up in arms about finding us filthy humans being in the galaxy - to mention some.
 
Remnants of civilisations:
- Non atmospheric planets: something similar to guardian ruins but sparse all over the galaxy not in a single sector. It would be the evidence of an ELW destroyed by some phenomenon (comets impact, solar winds or some anomaly -still visible and discoverable in the current system-).
- Later on ELW: ruins or fossils to be discovered in the middle of big forests or cities sank down in the seas.

Some gravity anomaly that interfere with your FSD and allow to jump to exotic locations which are not normally reachable. Exotic locations should be new type of landable planets (similar to NMS exotic planets) where you can find rare materials and commodities. Also abandoned ships of explorers that couldn't come back.

Galaxy should feature old systems with stars in the merging process near the core sector and new system with proto planets and young stars on the edge of the milky way.

GalMap should be taken to the next level: it should add gameplay to find signals and clues and it should allow proper exploration trip plans with multiple destinations.

Accretion disks around merging stars, black holes and so on. They should not be only a graphical feature. They should introduce a new type of challenging gameplay and if you succeed you obtain some supercruise boost or similar to travel faster through the system or similar.

  • Structures, old dead ships etc lost in the witchspace (very rare)
  • More anomalies (very rare)
  • UFO (ships); i.e neverseen shapes that move at exeptionnal speed and can disappear in seconds. (very rare)
  • Huge and strange shapes that can be seen in lagrange clouds. (very rare)
There should be little to none informations about it.
 
Space crabs.

they infest your ship and you need to synthesis a cream to get rid of them

speaking of which i think 3.3 is infested with crabs and frontier need to develop a cream to get rid of these filthy bugs crabs first.

Oh well, besides what's been said, there are many astronomical phenomena that could be added, as for the game:

- Asteroids with caves, big ones. Suitable for starport building, and paid in exploration.
- Planets with caves

Some other phenomena with examples:

- Globular Star Clusters (Hercules, ...)
- Contact Binary Stars (Algol, ...)
- Oblated High-Speed Rotation Stars (Regulus, Achenar, ...)
- Unstable, not rounded stars (Betelgeuse, ...)
- Hot Jupiters with atmosphere emission (51 Pegasi b, ...)
- Pulse Stars (Altair, Polaris, ... )
- Cataclysmic Stars (Swallowed by a nearby black hole, can't remember one now)
- Rogue Stars
- Hot accretion disks
- Gamma Rays Bursts
...

You know, the Earth is placed in a very quiet neighborhood, we've been lucky.
 
The ability to land on Earths moon.
Pluto Visual upgrade (since Horizons Data)
Martian moons (phobos deimos)
Add Ceres as landable body in Sol.
 
Some very good stuff already mentioned.
Especially accretion disks could be spectacular environments I think.

Something I would like to see and that is long overdue are not new stellar phenomena but new exterior models for space stations in known space.
I think known space looks very samey wherever you go and our experience could be considerably enhanced by more diversification of stations.

For example I would like a mining station to really be instantly recognizable as such from the outside. It should look completely different from a regular station, or a tourist station, or a high tech station.

Other stations that could use new exterior models are:
- Military stations. These should look more aggressive, bristling with weaponry, disc, antennae etc. There should be all kinds of military vessels floating and flying around. There should be a special procedure if you want to dock there. Perhaps you can only enter after a military vessel has visually checked you in person. Perhaps you need to be friendly or allied at a minimum, etc.

- Industrial stations. These could have much more pipes and protrusions on the outside to make them look industrial.

Existing station models could be used for tourist stations, high tech stations.

I also think Imperial space should feel different with unique Imperial Gutamaya designs in at least most of the core systems.

One other point: The Imperial navy should exclusively use Imperial vessels of Gutamaya design.

I think all this would serve to add differentiation to the bubble of human occupied space.
 
How about a region of space which is hard to traverse, where ships are rumored to have disappeared, the true details of which have been obscured by a powerful cabal that suppresses all knowledge of what's really there? Add in some abandoned ships with logs describing strange lights in witchspace, which drive people crazy so that they take EVAs without spacesuits.

Oh, we had all that, but it turned out to just be Thargoids.
 
Remnants of civilisations that never attained FTL - satellites in orbit around Earthlikes, old structures, old probes etc. Make them rare so that finding one is a genuine pleasure.

Plus one for this! We can't land there so at least tease a bit with the civilization that blew itself up real good with the anti-matter bomb, the world just now beginning to sustain life once again. A satellite with the last recorded words telling what happened would be much more interesting than just honk, FSS, jump.

So that is what those arms are for on some of the Coriolis stations, just match velocity with the outer end of the arm and moor your ship there.

Attaching a large mass so far from the center doesn't sound like a very stable idea :unsure:
