What can the Bingtuwrong be used for?

This thread may receive a lot of hate. But, it's old history, and as people say, history is history. Anyways, take a deep, long look at the following image (but not too long):

This is a model that was scrapped. But, as someone mentioned, it looks like a Raccoon Dog. Here are a few images:

With some tweaks, such as changing the color and eliminating the small ears, it could work. But, here's my question to y'all:

What other animals could be made by using the old Bingturong model? Do any of you think it's reasonable or even approve of Frontier using it?

I'm hoping that this thread will inspire the devs to not just trash the model, but use it to their advantage

Yeah, it's kinda funny... it almost looks like they were planning to make a Raccoon Dog at first, but then decided at the last minute to make it a Binturong instead. Pretty sure they recycle old models and animations all the time to make new ones, so assuming they still have the original Binturong model, they could probably turn it into something...

Nothing. New binturong is nearly same animal but with head and textures fixes. Their models and rigs are 1:1. Check lion rider video, you will se that nothing changed at all, this why it took frontier so short to fix him. This screen turned out to be just unfortunate angle.

I know it'd require a good deal of changing but this looks like the start for a nice wombat, and ....with different changes, a wolverine.

I'm the one who originally suggested repurposing it into a tanuki. I'm far less optimistic about that actually working now that we know more about the binturong model... It being based off the otter instead of the red panda would mean that much more work would need to be done to make it into a convincing tanuki, and in general the original binturong design was way more similar to the redesign than we could have realized based on the initial screenshots. I'm still hoping against hope that tanukis somehow manage to make their way into the game, but at this point I'm not convinced that this is their ticket.

Interstsing thoughts. But, you know, another option could be slightly adjust the rig. But, at this point there's no idea. I'm still hoping that they moce out of regional/biome packs and do something nore along the lines of Endangered Species or something like that

Nah, put your energy in creating new animals,
Such as what, exactly?

The babirusa was constructed out of the warthog rig. The clouded leopard out of the other big cat rigs. The tapir out of the tapir, the binturong out of the red panda originally, the sun bear out of the other bears, the proboscis monkey out of the other monkeys. Nearly all of the in-game animals have been built from existing rigs, so what exactly constitutes a "new" animal for you?

The raccoon dog is a dog - it would be senseless to base it on the binturong rather than an existing dog, such as the dhole perhaps.

Binturong is made out of giant otter (old version also) and sun bear is completly new rig (frontier words on stream).
Didn't know the former, not sure I believe the latter, it doesn't fit their modus operandi at all.

IMO there's nothing wrong with reusing old rigs for new animals. It seems unlikely they'd start from scratch for a bear with so many other bears in the game, when in the past it was discovered that the original base for the camel was the zebra (I don't have a source on that, it was back before launch), and those are two very different animals. Frontier has also said recently (IIRC in the stream where the sun bear was initially leaked) that because of the abundance of rigs making new animals is becoming much easier. Starting from nothing to make the sixth(?) bear in the game seems completely counterintuitive.
