What Can the Refinery Contact Make?

what's the benefit of using this?
Why not just stick a refinery module on your ship.
I'm confused.
The refinery module only turns mined mini-materials into cargo items, the refinery contact can turn some of those into steel, aluminium, etc. I’m not sure anybody uses them at a 2>1 conversion rate though. Maybe as an interim measure if they decided to start building industrial settlements or surface ports in a system before a refinery along a chain…

Ahhhhhh....cool. Thanks for the explanation.
I'm still playing catchup with the trailblazers update.

Do any of them offer raw materials though, or we still stuck with mining and using the material traders for those items?

I believe their use of “Materials” in that sentence means commodities in this case. but I may be wrong.
Yes. Or, more accurately, I meant the mining chunks which a refinery turns into proper commodities (or in my comment, cargo). Don't think refinery contact offers any engineering materials.

... knowing if the old system's rules of getting material traders applies to colonized systems would also be quite helpful though.

(y) (Oh, and the English in game term is, IIRC, "fragment". Its those that show up in the Contacts tab of the Nav panel on the left, again, IIRC. I might go check now.)

hmmm... 🤔
