If the folks are going on holiday, I'm 'avin some apple booze while they're gone. But... What cider to get?

I'm thinking Kopparberg. Love the Swedish stuff.

Cheers!

Are you in the UK? If so, you're in the best place for cider. I went to multiple pubs in Central and Southeast England and Scotland and tried the local ciders on tap. They were all excellent. I was lucky to live right across the street from a pub and on a low traffic street.

So I'd suggest going across the street and have a pint or six. Then, you can just stumble back home.

Heh! I've tried a few that were anything but excellent. But the point still stands... in a good cider (or cyder) pub, if you don't like one, then try a different one next time.

Alternatively, if you're in the UK... you could always search for a CAMRA festival. Most of them have cider (and some have mead too). Here's a link to the festival search page.

Might i suggest

Possibly the finest cyder i have tasted , and coming from the West Country and having had a pub called the Orchard in Bristol as my local for a few years, I have tasted a few! This is a clear cyder , very high quality , from a renown Suffolk maker, and a firm favourite . Its quite strong , so if you are the type who ends up fighting after a few fermented apple juices , then at least the quality, breeding and provenance of this one will have you sticking to the Queensburry Rules.

So you like hangovers?

Cider is great for getting drunk, but it will bite in the morning.

I would go with the Kopparberg as well, I had some raspberry stuff a couple of months back and it was very nice.

So is Diamond White, but I don't see anyone recommending that... apart from use as engine cleaner, that is.

Diamond White cider with a large Yates's Australian White Wine. Know in Yates's Wine Lodge as a White Lightning. Has the same effect as toilet cleaner. Sends you clean round the bend.

Not a cider drinker myself, but have been known to dabble in a glass or two on a summer evening.. Go for something local.

Thatchers Vintage 2017 Oak Aged Vintage Somerset Cider - gert lush

Has to be from the Mild Mild West or it's pants: Hereford at a push, but Suffolk - nope

I will occasionally drink Brothers Toffee Apple cider. It's an abomination to some people, which makes me like drinking it even more.
This sounds like a Mead, made in Monasteries; by adding Honey to Cider. Any yeast left for the Cider making process, will continue to ferment the Honey and make the brew stronger.

Any of them :D even Diamond White has its merits compared to the deity-awful stuff here in the US.

If there is one thing the Americans can never get right, it’s booze :D

I beg to differ. There's scotch. Oh, wait. That's Scottish.

But How about Cognac? Oh yeah. French.

Well, at least we have Guinness. Um...

Sadly, apples don't grow here. So: no cider available.
A company called Caribe imports apple juice concentrate, and adds industrial ethanol and carbonation. It's completely vile.

Whiteways still markets old time Cydrax, which is popular at Christmastime. It's not really cider though?
While in the UK, I had liked Magners. But clearly no experience here.
